Candid Pics of Villa Anole?

Post by Gromit »

Just curious if anyone has stayed at or has any candid pics of the rental villa Anole located in the Cinnamon Bay area.

I've read Charlie's review in the Villa review section and I've Googled all over the place, but I was hoping that someone had some candids (i.e. photos other than the ones posted on the CV web site).

Also any other firsthand experience at the villa would be helpful.

Also, I've been looking on the Atlas and trying to find the location. Charlie said it was accessed from Centerline road, but it also looks like there's an option from Northshore. How bad is the road towards the northshore end?

Many thanks in advance!

I think we should have a section to house "candid photos" of the villas we have stayed in. So helpful when trying to decide on a place!

I believe we visited this Villa last Thanksgiving it was not rented and the rental co gave us a key. If I am correct that it was this Villa (will ask my wife)I can send you pictures but not sure how to on the forum. Send me your E-Mail address and I can send them that way. The Villa is beautiful,OUTSTANDING VIEWS,nice pool and I would stay there. The drive to it is on a road that we thought could not fit 2 cars dont know what you would do if you ran into another car going the other way.Mexican stand off?

Hi Gromit, you can access the villas up there from the North Shore Road--it's the John Head Road you'd be turning onto. It's a dirt road, pretty bumpy, and generally slow going. We used it a couple of times when we were staying at Cinnamon Tarn last year, but John decided he did not like that route anymore after we were quite a ways down and came upon a giant cement truck that was coming up. We had to drive in reverse up a curvy hill until there was room for us to pull over and let the truck pass.

This is also the road that another person posted pictures of after they drove the back of their car off the road and had to have Conard Sutton come and tow them back onto the road.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Gromit,
Sorry, we haven't stayed at Anole, but we did stay at Mango Bay in the same area. You are right, it can be acessed from the North Shore....The "road" is quite bumpy and narrow....although I thought it was fun  We were lucky enough to see 3 St. John deer just hanging out in the middle of that road....really cool 8)
This year we will be staying at Peace and Plenty which I believe is a new neighbor to Anole. I think that Cinnamon Bay Estate is also a neighbor. From all that I've been able to find out, I believe each of these villas still retains their feeling of privacy.....mia

Gromit,
We stayed at Anole 2 years ago.The pictures on the website tell the whole story except the main room is alot smaller then the it appears in the photo. The bedrooms are pretty nice and I liked the screen porches off of each upper bedroom. The landscaping has gotten so large it obstrubcts the view. There is no view whatsoever from the lower 2 bedrooms. The best thing I can say about Anole is that the price is really low for St.Catherineberg.We found it extremely warm at nite because it is situated up against the mountain and there is no circulation thru the house. It is an older villa and still in great shape but I wouldn't stay there again.I didn't like the long walk over to the pool and the wood stairs can be very slippery when wet.
I'm ashamed to say that we hardly take any pictures anymore when we go down but if you are still interested I can see if my brother has some of the villa,He usually takes plenty of everything.

We stayed at the Anole May 2004. The best part of the house are the identical master suites on the upper floor - good size, great showers. Nice screened patios on each. The house was very well equipped with everything from papergoods to pots and pans, etc. The patio is huge. We did not like that the pool was on the lower level. Living room furniture not very comfortable. However, that being said, we would definitely stay there again just for the unbelievable view (and the price for the location). The two lower bedrooms are identical, also, but don't have a view. The road to the villa is a little rough, but you get used to it very quickly. You can access it from Centerline or from the North.
