Sittin' at STT airport...waiting....waiting..
Just sitting at STT airport with 200 of my close friends waiting for the Delta flight to get in.
We were supposed to leave at 1:30, while waiting in customs line, get the notification it is delayed and now it will be 4:30.....then 6:00.....then 7:30.....then 8:30...finally they confirm it should be here to take off at 9:30.
Since now we miss our connecting flight to Oregon, we get to spend the night in New York (supposed to get in around 3:00 a.m.) then head to the airport and see what flight we can get out. Wish us luck!

I can't express in a civil manner how much I hate the STT airport. It is a huge, end of vacation buzz kill.
The custom lines suck. The attitudes suck. The woman at the bar with the attitude sucks. The food sucks. Watching the poor trapped birds try to find freedom sucks (mostly because I, like them, wish I could, too.)
If I have to go home, I just want to get home. The STT airport is a slice of hell that almost makes me wonder if STJ is worth it.
Seriously, major end of vacation buzz kill.

Wisconsin, smell the dairy air
Delta added service this past winter direct JFK/STT and we used them last month as we got a really good fair versus AA. Sorry we did. We were over two hours late leaving JFK on the trip down due to high wind conditions and the runway construction at JFK. I was monitoring the return flights just before and during my vacation and the on time record was just dismal Delta only has a 'scheduled' one hour turn around in STT before they do the return, which is nearly impossible given the runway situation at JFK. Somehow the day we left, we got lucky and flight left on time and landed early. Yesterday morning and most of the day was extremely windy here in NYC so I am sure it greatly contributed to the backup there. I definitely agree with the the suggestion that everyone take advantage of a porter at STT - money very well spent. And yes the STT airport is awful.
I want to start a I Hate Delta Airlines But I Am Still Forced To Use Them Sometimes Club. While the Cyril King departure lounge is no picnic, sitting in JFK for hours waiting for either a plane or a crew might be worse. We waited for a plane for two extra hours on our return this year and waited for a crew this fall on our return from Utah on a red eye. That is an ugly over used lounge. We were forced to change our outgoing flight from a one stopper to a two stopper because of rescheduling. Maybe they are all like this now, but I don't recall having these troubles with either USAir, United, Continental or Jet Blue. Will Jet Blue ever fly into STT?
And Mrs. Pete I am sorry but I have a special relationship with the bartender at Cyril King. If I couldn't have my pre-flight rum punch(s) it would be buzz killer. She never makes me wait too long. Just smile and look needy.

LOL. I'm sorry, maybe it is a woman's thing.
One year as I waited patiently for service a young woman reached in over me demanding attention and swearing at me for not being aggressive enough. She told me I'd never get anywhere in life if I didn't speak up. This young woman was a little over half my age and in retrospect I haven't done that bad for myself by being a decent human being. I was served immediately and when I offered to buy her a drink she told me to do something unspeakable to myself. The bartender shrugged and I tipped her big. I think it took that young woman a while to get her drink. Not that I noticed. She probably didn't tip either.
