I used to read all the time and then somehow stopped. My resolution this year was to get through a book a month; I'm 2 months behind:(
If you are into light reading, Adriana Tragiani's Big Stone Gap trilogy is good and I just finished Very Valentine, which is the first of her next trilogy. The 2nd is out in hardcover.

Currently reading the Lost City of Z. VERY good. Not my typical read, but it is excellent. Great read for STJ!!!

We LOVE Harlan Coben! I've always been a reader, but Blaine had NEVER read a book just for "fun." We were camping a couple of years ago, and I started "The Woods" by Harlan Coben. After reading just a paragraph or two, I said "oh gosh! This is going to be great!" and I read a couple of paragraphs to Blaine. I left camp for awhile, and came back to find him reading. The following Monday, he was late coming home from work and I asked about it. He'd had to pull over, and finish that book LOL.LysaC wrote:Harlen Coben- author.
My hubby eats up anything Harlan Coben writes but I usually hate my hubby's taste in books.
So far, I'm loving Harlan Coben, one of his Myron books randomly plucked off the shelf in the living room.
I think I'm offically sucked in.
He has since read every Harlan Coben book, and moved on to other authors as well. It's so neat to see him enjoy something I've always loved.
I pre-ordered the new one, "Caught" for him, and he read it in a day

On the non-fiction front I have been reading 740 Park while at our cabin. It is about a ritzy apartment building on 5th Avenue from the time it was built into the early 90s. Rathing interesting.
I also just finished At Least In the City Someone Would Hear Me Scream which is about two guys that move to the UP Michigan from the city. It is broken up into short chapters about how they adjust to living in the woods. Funny stuff.

So I finished to Harlen Coben book (I think it was The Final Detail) and, wow, I really loved it. Quirky characters, goofy boy-men, an ending that I did not see coming- really good crime novel all around!
Now I have to start reading Harlen Coben's Myron books in order.
One of Harlen Coben's influences is the recently deceased Robert Parker. In fact, many male crime novel authors say that Robert Parker is the best. So I started one of his books yesterday and am hooked.

I finished "Under the Dome" a few months back. I really liked the book and just the whole concept of it. I also love long involved books.
I started "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" but it just seems really slow to me. I know a lot of people love this series, but I put it down about a 1/3 of the way in and haven't picked it back up.
So, in the mean time since it is spring and all the Everest people are getting ready for their summit I reread "Into Thin Air". I really love this book so I decided to read "Left for Dead". This is Beck Weathers story who was the DR. from Dallas that was left behind 3 times on the 1996 Everest expedition. Not as good as Into Thin Air but a different perspective.
We are getting ready for out STJ trip in about 3 weeks so I am stocking up and need some new books! I just ordered the Harper Connelly series by Charlaine Harris. That will be 4 books but I need more! Wasn't there some talk a while back about "An Embarrassment of Mangoes"? I looked around but couldn't find it.

I just downloaded the Kindle for Mac yesterday (free) and then purchased the Kindle version of An Embarrassment of Mangoes. So far it's an enjoyable read. I had the exact same experience, but one time I picked it back up and flew through it. Now I have read the first and second and am EAGERLY awaiting the 3rd installment!IslandElle wrote:
