Awesome sight!

Post by lprof »

Watched the shuttle, Discovery, launch this morning - from my house 170 miles away - it was an awesome sight!

Despite living here 28 years I have never gone to the space center for a live launch or landing... one of those regrets stemming from assuming that there will always be a next time. We have heard and felt the sonic boom as well as seen a few shuttle and rocket launches before. This morning was perfect as the sky was totally clear with just enough moonlight. The burn was fully visable and the contrail spread into a beautiful moving fan. I was impressed!

This mornings launch was one of the best I've seen - and since I can see them from my back yard, I've seen a lot of them!

Today's was launched just before sunrise, and looking to the east you could see the "world light up" just as the boosters were being jettisoned - awesome!
Come see us!
