I understand about the lack of a USB port. My iPhone doesn't have one either. I am hoping that it is like my iPhone in that there is a cable for the iPhone that connects it to a USB port on my laptop. That is how I sync photos, songs and movies from my laptop to my iPhone.
I've already ordered the iPad. (I went with the 3G model so I have to wait a bit to get it.) The tech specs on the Apple sight seem to indicate that there is a cable to connect the iPad to my laptop, like I do with my iPhone. I just wanted to make sure.

Wisconsin, smell the dairy air
I received mine yesterday (32gig)Love it! Very user friendly just like the iphone. What comes in the box is your ipad, a usb cable and a wall charger adapter for the usb cable. I have loaded the NYT app, Netflix, ibook, and USA today so far plus my iphone apps. I love that games are 2X bigger! Graet for 52 YO eyes-LOL. So far my ratings is 2 thumbs up!
stress test results on ipad, interesting for anyone who has purchased one
