$3.93 per minute! Ouch! Other ideas?
We have been planning our trip to Tortola and Peter Island in June, and I called Peter Island when we were deciding whether to bid a Luxury Link package.
At the same time, we were having issues with our Verizon FIOS bill and when my husband called about it, they said there was a $24 international call. (Oops - I just paid the bill in a hurry last month and didn't look at the details of the bill.) When I downloaded a copy of the bill, I see that my 6 minute call to Peter Island cost $24. Ouch - I had no idea it was $3.93 per minute.
I need to make another call to book our place on Tortola. (Email communication is just not working out.) Is it possible to buy some type of calling card or is there some way to call for less $$?
Thanks

Big upfront cost - but - get an iPhone, and use Skype over a WiFi Internet connection. I just had a friend call me from Japan - couldn't believe how good it worked... sounded like he was next door!

Calling cards: I have used them often to call to STJ, Barbados and St. Vincent. Most expensive calls are 50 cents/min to STV. I use a variety (each Island seems to require a different card). Just Google "calling cards to Peter Island" and ensure you read the fine print. I've been very happy with the card companies I've been using.

Skype can be used over a regular computer hook up too. I use it to talk with my brother in CA all the time.Anthony wrote:Big upfront cost - but - get an iPhone, and use Skype over a WiFi Internet connection. You never know where you're going till you get there.

Thanks for all the great ideas. I decided to buy an AT&T calling card, since I just need to make 6 or 8 calls to Tortola and PI over the next 2 months. It turns out to be 31 cents per minute to call Tortola using the card! Wow - what a difference from $3.93 per minute. The connection was perfectly clear also. I was able to book our car, but having trouble reaching the villa office there. No one answered the phone on Sat or Sun. Will try again on Mon.
Iowaguy - thanks for the info on PI and link to your pics. We loved them and gives us even more to look forward to on our trip.
