Hello everyone. I will be moving to St John in a month or so and have lots of questions. The first and most pressing question is; Who do you recommend we use to transport a car from Florida to the islands?

And any other advice is welcome. Thanks, Jim!

Welcome to the forum!

There'e actually a "Relocation Forum" here as well.

Although some pretty great advice can be had on this forum, we mostly talk travel related issues. But certainly good advice all around.

Congrats on the big move!

Try Crowley: http://www.crowley.com/

You need to give yourself plenty of time for this!

Also - some more stuff about relocation on my site VI MLS:

With all due respect to the folks who do such a fine job with this site, there is a much more active moving forum elsewhere as well. Type "move to the virgin islands" into Google and you'll get a lot of information that will help you.

Thanks for the replies. I found Crowleys today and they may be the way to go. As for the other sites I'll be checking as many as possible. I've spent a week on St T and a week on St J a couple of years ago on vacation but moving to the islands is another story. Very exciting, yet a little unnerving.

Would love to hear what prompted the move, what you'll be doing and where you are living! Always our dream to move to STJ. Best wishes on your new adventure!

As far as what has prompted the move, that's the sad part. Due to the failing economy the trim and cabinet business that I had established has failed. Rather than keep losing money I decided it would be in my best interest at this time to close the doors. Now for the good news. My girlfriend decided she would like a change of scenery. She is well aware of my situation and for some strange reason she has invited me to come with her. As far as what I'll do, we shall see. Hey if I'm going to be broke ( so to speak ) what better place than in St. John?

As I said in an earlier post this is a little scary. Then on the other hand not much more to lose at this point. She's willing to take care of the accommodations for now. I (and her, I'm sure) hope at some point I will be able to repay the kindness. We will be living in a house overlooking Peter Bay.

I've always been the adventurous type so I jumped at the opportunity. Wish me luck!!!!!!!
