Paddle Boarding

Post by IslandElle »

Does anyone have any info on this? I have always wanted to do it and I think STJ would be a good place since the waters seem to be pretty calm. I searched the forum but couldn't find any info. Is there a place that rents boards and paddles?

Thanks!

We were out at Cinnamon yesterday checking on the price of kayak rentals and I'm pretty sure I saw a list of prices for paddle boards.

They do rent them at Cinnamon- actually what they rent are windsurfer bases that are used for paddleboarding. They are a bit wider than what we have seen around here so they are much more easy to balance and maneuver on. Kids did it for hours and had a blast.

Oh, this is so going on my list for next time! I tried it a few years ago in Hawaii and loved it. SO much easier (for me) than surfing. (Plus, in Hawaii I was on constant paranoid shark watch.) :?

My mind went to the gutter and thought about college hazing tactics

I have always wanted to try paddle boarding (the ocean type- not the fraternity type ;-) Please give a trip report when you are back and let us know how it was. Maybe I can try it when we're back in August- we always hang out at Cinnamon at least once. Noticed you were from Dallas- did you see the posts about Dallas-area gathering? Looking at sometime in April or May.

Thanks for the info about where to rent. I will definitely have a trip report for you all when we get back. I always thought this looked like fun and would be a neat way to cruise around.

Laura,
I did see that everyone was trying to plan a get together in the Dallas area but it looks like that will be while we are on STJ! Soooo I guess we will just have to make the next one. We leave on April 27th and get back on May 18th. Thanks for mentioning it though!

I'm excited about a Dallas get-together, but you DEFINITELY have the better end of that deal- can't beat being on STJ- have fun paddle-boarding!
