It's a small world out there

Post by Connie »

So, I go to the foot doctors yesterday. Foot injury, I won't bore you.

I tell him that my injury hurts so bad that I'm nervous about putting on fins to snorkel. Even walking around.

He says: Where you goin?
I say: STT and STJ
He say: Really? I go there every year.

We keep on chatting and he tells me about these amazing Villas he rents on STJ (Peter). We talk about ferries, snorkeling, the beaches, places to eat.

At least I got my monies worth, but other patients were probably not that happy.

It seems more and more that I run into people that have visited STT and STJ. Getting pretty popular.

I had my Skinny's hat on and was checking out at TJ's.

check out guy: "Do you go to St. John often?"
Me: "try to get there every few years or so"
check out guy: "I'm going for the first time this fall; friends have a condo in the town if that means anything"
Me: "Grande Bay?"
check out guy: "No clue. They just keep saying the island is beautiful"
Me: "that it is"

We'll pick up the conversation when I go back next time.

We live in rural mid-Michigan and I was parked at the grocery store--the car next to me has the exact same 'STJ' bumper sticker as mine~also, I was leaving a customer's office Friday after regaling them with stories of St. John, letting them know we are going there this week, ran into another vendor on the way out, mention my vacation, he says yeah it's my kids' spring break too next week. 'Where ya going?' Yep...St. John. Small world indeed!

Also, my friend at works, daughter is renting "Blue Bitch" her friend works at the Fish Trap. That's who she's going to see.

I've been sending her different things and she's so excited to be going. She'll be back.

After a brief trip back to NH, (being on island since Oct), I stopped on the way to Logan @ CVS for "litmus strips", to test our new concrete before waterproofing stain is applied to gallery.

The pharmacist said, "I'll order them for you".

I reply,"I'm on my way back to STX right now".

I see a smile & a giggle between he & his assistant....

I smile & ask "What's up"?

He says, "I was born in Christiansted.....!!!!

Yes, it's a very small world, even on the BIG island of St Croix & New Hampshire!!!!

I live in a town of 5,000 people and I know at least 5 families that regularly visit STJ. Our neighbors was married on STJ and the entire family goes to STJ every year. My chiro is looking into buying a place on STJ. For rural PA, I am amazed by the # of people who go to STJ.

My wife's hairdresser is friends with a bartender at Woody's. Sent her a cell phone pic of the two of them when we visited last month.
