I made pizza dough from scratch the other day and baked off a pizza last night. The dough was so much better than the stuff from the store.

I have a question about the food porn thread
It's so dead here in work today, so I figure I'm going to go look at the beautiful pictures on the "Food Porn" thread.
Seriously folks, how the H*** can you guys eat like that? Especially you Liamsaunt...yes I'm pointing my fingers at you
I think I just gained weight from looking at the pictures.
I seriously can not eat like that. I had a 1/2 of turkey club wrap for lunch and I probably won't eat anything for dinner.
What's your secrets??

Oh Connie, please tell me that's just joking around.
First rule of weight loss is- you have to eat. If you don't eat, your body goes into starvation mode and it stops allowing you to lose weight.
Mind you, I'm no skinny minny, not even close, but when I did Weight Watchers many moons ago, you had to make sure you were eating all the food on your list. It was alot of food, just better food choices.

Connie, I have no secret except to cook delicious food and only eat as much of it as I feel like eating. We don't do "clean plate club" at my house. I will also say that many of my photos are serving platters and not individual plates.
We had a fish weekend. Friday, I made shrimp tacos using this fish spice blend from St. John Spice. I love that fish spice.

I am just testing my safari browser...IE is acting weird. I was going to do a live STJ report in a couple of weeks but, maybe not! With IE you cannot read/review more than 10 or so lines of text?
Saturday I made seafood fra diavlo, with homemade pasta. I used Mario Bataili's recipe and tried to make spaghetti, but it all stuck together. I had to extrude it again in a thick sheet and hand cut the pasta... PITA, and I won't be making it again any time soon:

Today for linner we had striped bass on blanchards couscous black bean salad, topped with pico de gallo and guacamole. I fried some corn tortillas for crunch:

The shrimp sauce is really easy: stir the juice of one lime into 1/3 cup sour cream, and season with chili powder and cracked black pepper to taste. The green stuff underneath is just my standard guacamole minus the tomatoes with the addition of chopped mango and toasted corn.
For the shrimp, all I did was toss them with the fish spice and cook them in a grill pan for about 2 minutes a side. I would have preferred to grill them, but it was too cold. I did brine the shrimp before cooking them: put the peeled shrimp into 1/2 gallon cold water in which you have dissolved 1/4 cup each of salt and sugar. Leave them for 30 minutes and then drain and cook. The brine helps the texture of the shrimp--I think it makes them juicier.
Maryanne, I should have used your recipe. I remembered it, but I was too lazy to go downstairs to my computer and print it out. Next time, definitely.
