Phils home opener

Post by mahojim »

Anyone going to the Phillies Home Opener?
I was just offered a ticket, and am so thrilled!
I've been to plenty of games, but this is the first "Home Opener" for me.
Anybody wanna' grab a hotdog?

I'm hearin' ya'!
I was sitting on the couch of Island Horizons villa in Coral Bay watching Brad Lidge throw strike three to win the World Series in '08.
Bittersweet...
Cried my eyes out, alone. I'll never forget crying to my sister Kate back home on the phone...
Amy & the other couple we were vacationing with were playing Scrabble on the patio. It was a lonely victory for me, but a victory, nonetheless.

I'm going to the National's home opener, which is against the Phillies. I love baseball, grew up a member of the old Washington Senator's "Knot Hole Club." A few years ago when DC got the Expos I went with a bus full of fans from the metro DC area up to Philly for the Nat's very first game. We were soundly booed in the parking lot. I said something to one of the guys razzing us like"Come on ,Man, it's been over 30 years since we had a baseball team" and he loudly responded, "Screw you. Why don't you trim your eyebrows." Trim my eyebrows? That's the best you got? Anyway, most of the
DC fans were in a section along the first base line and it only took until the top of the 3rd before seemingly most of the rest of the stadium was chanting,"DC SUCKS" over and over again. Welcome to Philly!
As to the Nationals, they were so bad last year, it was painful. I honestly think that they improved a lot this off season and may actually not lose 100 games this year.

I felt so badly for the Nationals last year. That's a rough way to go through the summer. I hope they do better this year.
Trim your eyebrows? LOL yeah .. GOOD one! :)

I love home openers. But this year the Sox opening day is at night and it just seems wrong.

We're going to my nieces and she has ensured that dinner/dessert/cleanup/cards will be done in time for us to get back home to watch the game :)

It's still wrong though.

Yeah, yeah, I know. Skinny's is a Boston crowd. They might have it on TV though if it's on ESPN, no?
I've honestly never watched TV at Skinny's, nor any other bar on STJ for that matter.-Just hoping you can find the game!
I'd love to chat longer, but I've got to run. Gotta' keep up my "eyebrow maintenance regimen". The Home Opener is just around the corner!
