Stayed there July 2008. I took my son, then 8, and neice, 12. We really enjoyed it. I really liked that we stayed on the "goat trail" that led us down to Big Maho. That is where we went everyday. It was painfully hot at the end of July, but nothing a cold shower and fans at the end of the day wouldn't fix. (I actually, uh hum, borrowed an extra fan from the unoccupied tent next door so we could be comfortable through the night because one fan could not reach both the bed area and the futon).
My point of view will be different than others as what mattered would be different than people with other travel needs, situation, etc. But here are some of them.
They have a coin operated washer and dryer available. Turns out to be a great spot to meet people who are staying there.
Decent meals, and somewhat reasonably priced, although the kids meals were higher priced (for what it included, as well) than Caneel's kids meals. Strange.
My favorite part was the ambience. There's such a friendly vibe there that makes you feel at home.
Their dial up internet was so slow I gave up after 15 minutes of not being able to check one email. (they charge by the minute). This is before I was wise enough to have an iphone, sigh...I love my iphone.
I loved the that they had a spot to leave what you didn't use, or take what others have left. It made my day to get someones fancy organic cereal they hadn't used.
Their sunsets from the dining area really do rival any other best spots on the island. They really are wonderful.
And here's my favorite part--
THE BILL when I checked out. I'm not used to seeing something not have lots of zero's on the end in ST. John!
