Where to stay if I extend trip April 4-10?

Post by torchlaker »

Looking for some suggestions here. Right now, American Airlines would let me change my flight if I found somewhere to stay.....

The condo I am renting in St. John is not available....any suggestions (lower price, tho)? Should I go back to St. Thomas and stay there for another couple of days?

Been really stressed and think that it is gonna take me longer than 3-4 days to unwind.....

Have you checked any Grand Bay condos. Look on vrbo.com http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/ca ... -john#a654. Some of them are pretty reasonable priced. There's always Cruz Views or Samuel's Cottages.

Just checking low cost options out myself...

I prefer staying in Coral Bay:

Sailview
http://www.sailviewstjohn.com/

Calabash cottages http://www.calabashcottages.com/

Round House Villa thru Viva is also low cost $1525 for a week (although this is more expensive than the other options listed above.

Not sure about availability at this late a date though....

Other options in town (Cruz Bay) is the St. John Inn http://www.stjohninn.com/

or the Inn at Tamarind court http://innattamarindcourt.com/content/

Hope these help....

Hi - we are also from Michigan, staying until April 4 at Century Hill Estates - what type of place are you looking for? Century Hill Estates has nice 2 BR units and efficiencies, not far from town. Very reasonable.
Perhaps we'll run into you while we are there.

Cruz Views is good for one person, they are really small units - but be careful as some are really outdated and a few are rundown. We love unit #3 (fantastic bathroom with indoor/outdoor shower) and #7.

We've stayed in Cruz Views #7...it's redone & very comfortable with a nice view! It's a one bedroom/1bath with long balcony. Only thing it didn't have is a dishwasher or oven (had a toaster oven); we made it work so it wasn't a deal-breaker for us. Nice flat cooktop though.
Enjoy....wherever you stay!

Another Michigander with a place with Availability April (4-10) walking distance to town. Near Gallows / ZoZo's

Good clean place, we are staying March 26-April 9
in one of the other units. We have stayed in this villa last couple of years and think it is a real good value. If you want any more info let me know.

Kim Morris may be able to find you a unit at Grande Bay. She found me a nice 1BR for a last minute trip.

Because of all your suggestions, I WAS able to find a place to extend my vacation for 5 days (could have stayed longer -- but couldn't find any available flights out!!). I found Sugar Bird Nest for 4/4 - leaving 4/9 -- so I will actually be on StJ for 12 days! It has been a very stressful 3 months here, and I SO need this. Hubby died in Iraq 2 yrs ago,and his trial (for insurance) comes up April 20th -- after 6 postponements. I think STJ will help "steady" me before the trial.

Today is my last day with internet access as I leave for Cleveland (8 hr drive) in the a.m. My son is taking care of my beloved dog(couldn't bear a kennel.

Thanks again to everyone for all the wonderful info I have gathered since I booked this trip in August.

Glad it worked out for you. I know what you mean about STJ feeling like a safe place.

I was stuck in traffic in Pentagon City next to the Pentagon on 9/11 and witnessed a lot of terrible things that day and all I could think about was getting my family together and getting to STJ.

It's a healing place.

Relax and breathe in the island air, listen to those tinkling piano keys, and let your soul rest! So glad you were able to extend your stay, and thrilled about the lovely place you found to do so! Safe travels,

torchlaker,

Just wanted to wish you a safe journey. There is nothing like STJ to clear the mind, heal the heart, and renew the soul. Enjoy all the beautiful sights and sounds of the island. Would love to hear about your time on the island when you return to our wonderful state of Michigan.
