Well all,it looks like 3 of the 5 couples have had second thoughts for a daysail with MYCB.
We had our required 10 people for a great deal with Capt. Dan, but it fell through. Seems they don't want to "waste a vacation day" during their first visit to STJ. That's their prerogative...
We'll be on island 4/24-5/01 and are still looking to share a sail. We were hoping to hit Norman & Willy T's, but are flexible.
Although I'd prefer www.motoryachtcinnamonbay.com , we are well aware that there are plenty of other great daysail charters available, and are open to suggestions.
A daysail has always been the highlight of our trips to STJ., but if it doesn't work out we're looking to have a 'dinghy day', and explore the island from the water (something new for My Sweet Amy & I...)!
Anyone with desire or ideas, let me know.
Thanks, and always

aww sorry to hear that you lost some fellow boaters Jim. You'll get more,I'm sure.
Our trip has taken a little turn. I got layed off on Friday,so it's budget tightening time. There'll be no daysails for us this trip. Be a no frills trip am sorry to say but I'm just thrilled to still be going.
Going to just wait & see, if co. gets some new work in next mo. then will be called back. So will hang in there till get back and see what's what then.
A little scary but there are plenty of people worse off than we will be. How we look at it.

No ticker anymore. Next vac will prob. be the Fl Keys.
I have found a great value for a day sail...it is the Spree 2 with Captain Bob.
He does both day sails around St. John (full day-$70, bring your on lunch) and will do trips to Jost ($120 includes custom fees...lunch is on your own). He provides water, beer and soft drinks.
He does not require a minimum...in fact the last 3 times we have been out with him we have been the only 2 persons on the boat.
His phone number is (340) 771-3734. Nice boat, nice guy..and the most reasonable sail I have found.

sorry to hear.....we'll be there the same week as you, but we have a big group and we intend to charter our own boat one day.
You might want to have a 2nd thought about this though....going to Norman is against the wind for sailing, pretty slow. You need to first go to Jost or Tortola to clear customs, then to Norman. I think it would be difficult to get to as many places on a sail boat. For going in that direction, we prefer the motor boat charters, you can do alot in a short amount of time with them.
For sailing charters, we prefer captain Phil on Wayward Sailer going out of Cruz Bay....he's a great guy, nice boat, takes 6 people and you'd have the whole boat to yourselves. You can stay on that side of STJ and not spend time trying to sail to the local customs office for BVI.
good luck!

Sorry....thought you only wrote about sail charters up above. Motoring is the way to go in that direction.....good luck!mahojim wrote:Surfn-
Been there!
As I mentioned, our first choice is the Motor Yacht Cinnamon Bay, so no sailing involved there!
A motor boat charter is already on our "must have" list as far as any day trip.
Thanks, and always

[quote="Bigcheeze"]"Jim,
We have rented our own boat from Ocean Runner and will do again this year and a Dingy Day too. We're boaters and love the being on the water.
We did Jost, Cane Garden and Norman with the boat. This year it's Sopers(customs), The Baths, Marina Cay and then Jost as our 'planned' itinerary."
Thanks for the info, man.
We gotta' hang out down there sometime.
Your Sweet and mine will love the crap out of us limin' like old friends!
Have a great time!

We will be on-island for 10 days during this time. Some in our group want to do day charters. As far as itinerary...the Indians (weather permitting) sounds fun but have no desire to do the Willy T... but we are open to other suggestions. If any are interested, PM me for more details.
BTW...Maho Jim...Are "Congratulations"!!! in order?
Isn't this the time you were planning your wedding on Maho? ...oh, what can be more romantic...

Thanks for the best wishes, beachplums.
Amy & I are working on a STJ wedding probably this time next year.
I love her, man.
As far as the charter, nothing has been nailed down as of yet.
It's like organizing a party where everyone says yes to the idea, then end up not committing.
Stay in touch, as it'll probably be a last minute answer. I realize how hard it can be to make plans as Island Time takes and holds you. I just want to be sure that whichever charter isn't already booked before us groovy Forum folks get the opportunity to enjoy it.
