water temp in STJ

Post by mcnmle »

Hi All. What's the water temperature in STJ now? We last traveled five years ago in January and found the water to be disappointingly cool. We are headed back in three week and really hoping for warmer water. Thanks for any info!

The water is noticably cooler in winter vs summer.

I used to laugh when locals told me that they didn't get into the water until after Memorial Day.

We used to travel in April a lot and found the water temp very comfortable.

If you want nice and warm aim for June or July. But I think you'll be happy with the water temps for end of MArch/Early April.

All that being said if you REALLY want to know what the surface water temps are, NOAA can help you with that: http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/?index_region=at

Water today at Maho was a little cool to get in, but you got used to it real quick....It was super hot and humid today so it felt good!
