driving myself crazy

Post by nancyr84 »

We decided to try the Gift hill area for our trip next summer. The only problem is I just cannot decide which house to pick. I thought I decided on Palm Villa then I saw Cloud Nine , then I saw Cielo Vista and on and on. We like updated homes, with a watm pool, private, air in bedrooms. Any ideas why one of the Gift Hill homes would be better than another?

what does "updated" mean to you in choosing a house?

If a warm pool is a priority, you might want to consider which direction the pool faces. If the pool faces southwest (towards Fish Bay), it could get chilly due to the winds.
Wisconsin, smell the dairy air

Very good point.

That's great advice from Pete. I bet you want to make sure the pool is also not in shade from the house.

I'm not familiar with Gifft hill villas so I can't advise, sorry.

I just wanted to let you know that it is spelled Gifft Hill (two f's). I'm told that spelling is a hold over from Danish times of past. Have a great trip!

Nancy,

Don't know if you are "all set" yet - but, we LOVED Cielo Vista. We stayed there a few years ago & it was amazing.

Views were to die for. LOVED the Upper Balcony. Very modern kitchen, living room & bathrooms. The bedrooms, at the time, just had A/C wall units. But, it was adequate for keeping the rooms cool and oomfortable. Oh - and a note: one bedroom is accessed off of the living room - the other is only accessed off of the outside deck area. Bathrooms were spacious and very nice in both.

The only rooms that didn't knock your socks off - were the bedrooms. Nothing wrong with them. Great views from both. Just not "killer" decor. But, the living room, kitchen, bathroom & upper and main level outside areas more than made up for them.

Pool was on the smaller size. But, lovely deck area - again, upper and lower.

Entire unit was above the owners lower unit. At the time, they were in residence - but, it didn't at all interfere with our feeling "private" at all.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask away and/or PM me. Again, those views from up there are spectacular.

Good luck with your search!!

Sue

nancy, as you probably know, palm & c9 are next door neighbors and share a drive. the original floor plans were same but palm had a large master bedroom added to parking lot side of house, thus 3 bedrooms + loft. we like gifft hill, have stayed at c9 4 times and have considered palm and cv which is down ghill rd past (going down) entrance to virgin grande estates.

the views from palm and c9 (& i suspect cv since only about a hundred feet lower) are unbelievable. they face west, sunsets all seasons, high enough to see over losts of stt and nice breezes. while c9 pool gets plenty of sun, water was cool during dec, jan and feb visits but pleasant in oct and i expect better in heat of summer.

due to western exposure need to consider shade availability, c9 has a nice gazebo next to great room, palm has an umbrella and not sure about cv.

palm and c9 are older villas and while i don't know about palm, we found c9 very well equipped, maintained and comfortable, though not luxurious. c9 has only 2 bedrooms, plus a sleeping alcove and loft in greatroom BUT she has something we found useful in oct, great ac in the great room.

if i had the money to buy/build a place on stj, i'd start with the palm/c9 floor plan, all on 1 level, main bedrooms that open to the deck with panoramic views & located away from the great room and a kitchen with water views and that opens to the deck so the cooks are a part of the deck activity and a bath (even a half) in great room.

ps, marcey with c9 is a property manager extraordinaire!
