hello from St John

Post by patr »

Sorry if I was ranting yesterday, was still feeling the effects of the dramamine.

Great night's sleep, nothing like sleeping off that dramamine. Awoke early and headed to the Donkey Diner for breakfast. They should rename the joint Skeeter Haven. The skeeters in there ate us up! Food was just OK, not a thumbs up or down yet, we'll try again later in the week perhaps.

First beach choice was Francis. Overcast skies in the a.m. The water was not as warm as we're used to in the summer and even in December. But great day for limin'. Here's a pic of Francis:

After a few hours of limin' DH is hungry. We head to town. There are 7 ships in today!! Trunk looks like Daytona Beach during Spring break, OMG I have never, ever seen so many people there before! The traffic in Cruz Bay is nutso! Of course no parking anywhere to be found, we pulled into Slimman's. $5 for 1 1/2 hours or however long lunch takes. Walk over to Lime Inn, so DH can get his favorite Mango smoothie. Their secret ingredient is actually ice cream! It is really a mango shake! No wonder it's soooo creamy! I order the veggie quiche, it was deleesh. DH had the teryaki chicken, he pronounced it very good, of course he's in smoothie heaven.

We asked the server how the lobster supply was this time of year. I absolutely love their grilled lobster and it is always on my must-have list. She told us since October the lobsters have been great, but the lobster guy recently broke a rib and has been unable to pull up the traps and they haven't had lobsters for a little while and probably won't get any the rest of the week. I am heart broken. DH wants to know where the lobster guy is, he is willing to go out on the boat and pull the traps up so I can have my lobster. What a sweetie. He stills loves me soooo much even after 30+ years. She gets a pretty big chuckle from this.

When we returned to Slimman's, they've moved the jeep. It is really tight and after DH's smoothie orgie, he can't open the door wide enough to climb in. Where is Slimman? The girls laugh at this and says maybe they should change the sign. I guess Slimman really isn't. LOL One of the girls squeeze in and moves the jeep.

Next beach on the agenda is Maho. Now the sun is shining and Maho is almost desserted.

Paradise. I actually was so relaxed after a swim that I fell asleep. What a life!! We hang out until almost dark and then head back to Sailview for showers and DH logged on and did a little work.

Tomorrow maybe Vie's Beach. Is she open on Thursdays?

Enjoy your time! I am, of course, envious that it's not me right now.

I know some find it easier than others to provide updates while on island but I honestly don't see how you do it! Why, on the other hand, is obvious. :)
