New STJ Book

Post by Exit Zero »

I am reading, and enjoying a new STJ book called "St John - Life in Five Quarters" - published by the St John Historical Society -- I strongly recommend it to anyone on the Forum who is interested in the history and culture of the island.
ISBN:978-0-9842740-0-0 1st printing Feb 2010

Thanks for the tip! I didn't see it on Amazon.com. I'll plan on picking up a copy in June when we come visit unless I can find it before then. Where'd you get your copy?

So I am reading the post thinking, "This looks good. I wonder if Ruth stocks it?" I scroll down and voila! See you in 19 or 20 days. Whenever we stagger in.

Thank you Exit! I really enjoy learning more about the history and culture of a place I love. There's so much more to know about STJ than what we experience today.

I bought mine at Mumbo Jumbo in Coral Bay - see here that Ruth is stocking it - I am sure the STJ Historical Society link given will also tell about other retailers or sell it direct.
If you noticed my post was at 1:21 AM - really I almost stayed up all night reading this -- so many wonderful articles and stories - it will give any reader an understanding about STJ that goes way beyond any other book I know of -- My sincere thanks and compliments to the 4 editors and the STJ H.S.!!

Earliest article is on the Danish struggle in the late 1600s, to colonize the island in opposition to both the English and the Spanish, who both thought they had prior claims...
