October Questions

Post by Rhonda »

We have always visited St. John in July but are thinking about going in October this year. How is the weather & water temperature during that time? Also, I read that Caneel would be closed during October. Does that mean the beach, too? Caneel is one of our favorite places to snorkel.

Hey there! My wife and I and another couple will be on ST John. No matter what they say there is no bad time to be there! It's an Island Ting!

Hi Rhonda! My wife and I stayed on S.T.J. in October of '94 and '96 and love it. The water and air temps were both on the warm side and it didn't seem so crowded.Could that have changed? Not sure, but I like to go there around that time, Parafins

I've been twice in October and love it then. The water is very warm and calm. The air is very warm but not as humid as the summer, in my opinion. The island is not at all crowded.

Caneel has confirmed that they will be closed in September and October again this year. Last year they were allowing people to park across the street from the resort gate and walk in to Honeymoon and Caneel's main beach. I don't know if they will do that again or not.

The only times I don't like to be on island are on February 30-31 and on days that don't end in "y"...

Great weather, and you may have the option for a groovy Halloween Party somewhere, as well.
Go with it, but don't forget your

My husband and I always head to St. John (since its our anniversary month) and usually have a great experience (besides the one year with Omar). Odds are though you should have great weather and as others have said warmer and calmer water. Just be sure to purchase trip insurance just as a piece of mind.

The one year I didn't was the year we got Omar!

Have spent the last 3 halloweens on the island and plan to do it again this year. a great time to visit and usually quite a few forum members vacationing at that time. Weather has always been great and crowds are low so parking is usually easy so much more enjoyable not having to stress out about getting around and most restaurants are open with the exception of a few in the coral bay area.
have fun planning
