need new music
need new music
I have listened to Jimmy Buffet for years, I listen to Kenny Chesney (just the STJ related songs), Bob Marley and reggae. I like classic rock so I have the 70's and 80's CD's. I like most music but I need some new stuff. I would like something that is not slow and boring but maybe more upbeat. I just got Jason Mraz and really like that. Any other suggestions?
I like all the music you listed so maybe I can offer a couple suggestions. O.A.R., Easy Star All Stars (they do reggae covers of Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and Radiohead), JJ Grey & Mofro, Kings of Leon, Matisyahu, Norah Jones, Toots & The Maytals, UB40, Van Morrison. I get kinda chatty when it comes to music so I didn't go into reasons for my recommends. But feel free to hit me up if you need more info. I love new music, so hopefully you find what your'e looking for.

Don't worry be happy!

Try Pandora on your computer. It's got a great free service. Just google it and set it up. It takes about 5 minutes. You put in a couple of artists that you like and it creates a personalized "radio station" and will begin playing music that you will most likely enjoy, relative to what you put in. I have gotten turned on to untold numbers of new artists. If it plays a song that you don't like, you give it a "thumbs down" and it will stop the song, start another one and tell you,"Sorry, we'll never play that song again."
I have it set up now to receive it wirelessly from my computer to my main stereo system, and I listen to it more then everything else put together because I like to always hear new stuffs. Oh, yeah, you can create numerous stations of different genres, and it saves the stations for you.

When you find yourself in a hole.... quit digging.

For some newer artists with recent releases that even my teenager deemed iPod worthy check out Say When, and You Found Me by The Fray; The Freddy Jones Band – Home Thing, In a Daydream; One World. Also: 40 Days by Bob Schneider; Maybe by Ingrid Michaelson; Closer to Love by Mat Kearney; and I Saw by Matt Nathanson.
If you love classic rock, there is also a tasty new live version of “Little Wing” done by Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood from their recent Live from Madison Square Garden album.

I second Toots and the Maytalls...check out "Pressure Drop" as a start. I also like Ben Harper, in particular, "Into the Colors."
Another fun thing to do for a STJ playlist is to go to iTunes and search for "one hit wonders." It will give you results by decade. There are some good, fun tunes worthy of listening to while floating in your villa pool.

Like alot of other people here, I've explored many different corners of music genreas/artists over the years...to the extent that I don't even know how to describe many of them because there are so many crossovers from rock to blues to jazz to folk to something else...a couple ideas based on your faves of JB, KC, 70s, 80s---
Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Eric Clapton, Bonny Raitt, Lyle Lovett

Here's a Santana song I've been digging lately...
A groovy song that meanders from a hip hoppish feeling into a Mowtown groove all sewn together with a Jazzy Santana guitar line...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00136 ... 2&sr=301-2
Actually- I highly reccomend that entire Album, it is excellent all the way through.
