villa help for july please

Post by toni »

Well, my friends have decided they'd like to visit St. John with us in July. We've been 6 or 7 times. They've been to the BVI's but never the USVI's. They'd like to schedule it during the 3rd week in July so that they can go to a full moon party on Tortola the last week of the month.

The concern is that they're on a very limited budget. When they've visited the BVI's before they've camped out at Ivan's and stayed somewhere pretty economical. But they're up for sharing a place if the price is right. It would be 4 adults and one 13 year old who can easily sleep on a couch-so 2 bedrooms a must, 2 baths a plus. I'm trying to see if we could get something in the $1500 range (including taxes). We're looking at Concordia studios (we've stayed out there before), but wondered if anybody had other suggestions?

We're renting a vehicle that we can all share (I know, this could be a sticky point, but we've known/travelled with them before and we're pretty flexible). They're more the Coral Bay side kind of people, but since this is their first time to STJ I think anything would go. They're going to bring a lot of food since they're vegetarian and are concerned about the budget too.

I'm also wondering with the economy still if July I'd be able to get any deals on places that weren't being rented, but not sure if I want to wait 'til the last minute. Thanks for any suggestions!

Take a look at Privatehomesvi.com. They may have something in your price range.

La Dolce Vita in Coral Bay was awesome and would accomodate your needs. Go to stjohnhouserentals.com and go to La Dolce Vita. It may be a little above your budget, but it is right on Coral Bay and has access to the water. The owners were awesome to work with and Fernando, the owner, has his own boat and offers day trips.
You can PM me if you have any questions

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. :)

I think we'll be on St. John from the 17th to the 24th of July give or take a day, so I think we're going to miss you Capn Dan and Ruby and Greyhoundmom and dad, but thanks for the suggestions and I'll take a look at vrbo. I've got a couple emails out to some places so we'll see what they say.

If you are up to a very adventurous drive up the mountain, check out Fair Winds and Following Seas in Coral Bay. It has a very unique layout... very suitable for 2 couples. It actually has 2 full kitchens and 2 hot tubs. Great Caribbean Getaways is the rental company.

Go to http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/ca ... vi-st-john and plug in your dates and see what comes up as available. That should narrow things down a bit for you and make it easier to decide. After you've got a short list, come back to the forum and see if we can answer any questions you may have.

Deciding on the villas is a the hardest part of the trip planning IMHO. Good Luck.
