Question about 8 Tuff Miles day

Post by STJ_gal »

So we are going to be on-island this year during 8 tuff miles. Two of my friends are registered to run it - my question is once you get over to Coral Bay, how do most people get back to Cruz Bay? I could pick them up, but I have no idea how long the road is closed.

Any input appreciated.

They can hitch hike as a lot of contestants do this on race day and there is always someone who will pick them up or they could catch the bus (it still runs) The road is closed for a short time but once they open it up it is just slow going.

Around what time do they re-open the road?

My husband did this about 5 years ago and I headed straight to Coral Bay on the North Shore after dropping him off. I was able to get there with no closed roads before the first finisher arrived. And I caught a few good photos along the way :)

Let's say that one may be a wee bit of a sleepyhead and does not like to be up early - what time would one be able to go over to Coral Bay after the race starts? How long do they close the road?

Thanks for the help!
