Friday Morning on St. John

Post by Tracy in WI »

Once again it looks to be a beautiful day - we have not had one rain shower at all this past week. Internet service has been iffy so sorry that I haven't posted more.

We tried to rent a dinghy yesterday, but with the high surf, we decided to pass. Instead, we hiked down to Honeymoon Bay and it was perfect. Waves were just right and we had decent visibility while snorkeling.

We did learn an important island lesson yesterday. When your rental car gets low on gas, stop and refill when you can. Our "E" light came on on Wednesday afternoon and we planned to get some gas yesterday only to learn that the station in Cruz Bay was out. Yikes! We weren't sure we could make it to Coral Bay and weren't sure that they had any gas anyways. Thus the short drive to the Lind Point Trail and hike into Honeymoon! Fortunately, they re-opened later in the day and we could fill up.

On Tuesday, we spent the day at Cinammon - great waves and a few surfers. No snorkeling to be done at all, but playing in the waves made for a very fun day.

Today, sadly our last day, we plan to hike out to Leinster Bay and snorkel if we're able. I doubt we'll try to go around Waterlemon due to the high surf. We're still deciding on where to have lunch - Skinny's, Shipwreck, Island Blues, or Tourist Trap - sucks to have to decide! Then we plan to end our day at Francis.

Back to the snow and cold tomorrow!

Always a tuff choice on where to eat that last day. Just the thought that you wont be back for a while and you will miss all of them make the decision difficult. Enjoy your day and have a safe trip home. Hopefully your runway is clear.

Sounds like a wonderful trip! Enjoy your last day, and safe travels home.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
