We're big fans of 'Siempre' - It's a beautiful house, Chris Boyd is great, and I think it has the prettiest driveway on St. John. I recommend sitting in the hot tub at sunset watching the lights blink on over on the east end.
No 'secrets' about the area, really, but it's fun being so close to Salt Pond and the Tourist Trap (and you can even walk the shoreline over to Miss Lucy's, but I'm not sure I'd want to do that in the dark because of the rocky beach).

If you like to hike there are some good options on the southeast corner. Starting with:
• Ram Head - straight-forward walk with a beautiful view at the far southeast corner of the island. Snorkel at Blue Cobblestone, either coming or going.
• Tektite Trail - out to Cabritte Horn Point. Also gorgeous views.
• Lameshure Bay Trail - over to Reef Bay, with side trips to the Reef Bay Great House and the Petroglyphs. Also, there's a spur trail to Europa Bay.
Beaches on the southeast include:
• Little Lameshure - very still usually, and easy access from the car. Interesting drive there...
• Salt Pond - lots of information about this one on the forum. Take in the side trip to Drunk Bay!
Eating:
• Tourist Trap is a fun place to stop.
• I hear good things about sunset at the Cafe at Concordia
• Shipwreck Landing & Miss Lucy's too.
Have a great trip.

Two, well off the beaten track, pebble beach, bays located between Salt Pond and Lameshur are Grootpan and Kiddel.

"Snorkeling
An exciting snorkel option is to snorkel from Kiddel Bay to Grootpan Bay. Starting from Kiddel Bay, snorkel around the point, proceeding west along the rocky coastline to Grootpan Bay. Bring waterproof footwear with you and you can enjoy a nice walk back to Kiddel."

... no longer a stranger to paradise
thanks guys, we can't wait to try some serious snorkeling at some of those out of the way spots...in previous trips we turned back a few times on the road to the end...but this time damn the torpedos.
minde, i hope our sunday (march 7) is one of the 'on' parties stj julie says it's a fun time.
lark, did you do a TR from your stay?...pics?...is it on a cliff or can you walk down easily, and are there any little accessable secluded beaches around the point?...i've heard it said only very serious swimmer/snorkelers should swim there? true?
lovermont, i plan to do as much hiking as the mrs. will think is acceptable for a 'relaxing vacation', so reef bay that way looks doubtful...the snorkeling is non negotiable though.
lprof that snorkel sounds like a blast, penciled in.
c'mon march.
