Feeling dreamy........

Post by cjroyer »

I love this island. My husband and I have traveled extensively in the last 7 or 8 years to many different places. We've been to Jamaica, St Kitts, St Thomas, Aruba, Africa, Spain, Cancun, Hawaii and a few others I can't think of right now. We are planning another trip to Spain in May to visit my nephew who lives there. I'm excited about this trip and we are taking our 20 year old daughter and 23 year old son. It will be a great family trip and we are traveling with other family members as well. Very exciting! So why is it I keep thinking I'd rather go to St John? There is truly something magical about this place that makes me look at the Ruth's web cam about three times a day and just sigh.

My husband and I have been to St John 3 times in the last 4 years, each time it was an adult only trip. My daughter has told me not to even THINK about returning again without her  So hopefully in May of 2011 we'll be back with her this time. I can't wait to show her my favorite place on earth. I have a feeling she'll be as hooked as I am!!

It's so cold here in Pa today. Just felt the need to right this down. Thanks for listening :)

Love it, love it, love it!
When will you be there, and will our paths cross?
We'll be on STJ 4/24-5/01.
Hope to see you, if not, have fun!
Smiles-

Our daughters (ages 18 and 26) won't even let us entertain the thought of going to St John without them!! Our 8th trip will be this June and this year includes the boyfriend of our older daughter. It's one week where the everyday distractions are gone and we can just enjoy the island and each other's company. Our girls are very nostalgic - they love the Donkey Diner for breakfast (and pizza), Rhumblines (at least 2 dinners during the week), Cinnamon Bay on the first day, among others. This year I'm insisting on trying the Tourist Trap for lunch.

Be sure and try La Plancha del Mar in the Marketplace if you haven't already. The food is really wonderful and I highly recommend the fresh sangria and their margaritas are my favorite on the island. Everything we've ordered was fabulous. I had to twist my husband's arm to get him there (he didn't want to 'waste his island time on a restaurant without a view') but now he's hooked.

Jim - I'm not sure of date yet for next year. It will be sometime in May. She goes to college and will be done the first or second week of May. I think we were on island together in Nov but didn't cross paths. We'll have to try and make sure we meet at the beach bar or somewhere next time :)

INfamily - My son hates the beach so this means my daughter will probably be taking a friend. They're both so much fun to travel with and I'm so excited. Husband and I did the Tourist Trap in Nov. and it was very good. Unfortunately, it was raining that day so we didn't get to see much of the great view but the owner and waitress was very nice and friendly. Food was great! Have a great time!!

I can't wait to get a new ticker on here!!!

Diana - I have not tried LaPlancha. The last two trips we had a group of 10. It's very hard to find a resturaunt that can accomodate that many people at one time. We've been taking coolers of meat and eating at the villa almost every night. I always have great intentions on trying somethiing or making sure I get somewhere but with that many people, plans never seem to materialize. We just mostly go with the flow.

I am looking forward to trying the different resturaunts this next trip!

Yeah, that is the ultimatum I got from my teens as well..."don't even think of going on another island trip til we get to go".
They are tired of hearing about it constantly, having not experienced it. I don't blame them. Gotta get them there soon~ :D

Yeah. You should have heard the venom in my kids' voices this past August when we called from the VI to check in on them at hte grandparents house  . So we booked a trip for August with the whole family. They are much happier now...or as happy as pre-teens can be  .

I told hubby last week that "Wow, I will be in the VI's for my birthday AGAIN this year. I'm getting spoiled." Hubby responded quickly by adding "getting??" 8)
