Need a spring break vacation

Post by Terry »

Our springbreak is the last week of March. Normally we head to CA to see our daughter and other relatives. However, we can't count on our daughter being in CA that week as her work is flying her all over the country currently.

Any good, warm suggestions for that time of year? We're not willing to spend a fortune as we're saving for our Greece trip in 2011.

Thanks for any suggestions that you can send our way.

Terry---Seems like there are usually some reasonably priced flights from Denver to Cabo. In addition, Cabo has an absolute glut of timeshares that people have purchased after a few margaritas, and then don't use, so you can generally rent a nice timeshare for a week for around $1000-$1500 (or sometimes less). Check for timeshare rentals on sites like www.redweek.com/

Costa Rica has reasonably priced accomodations too. My daughter has been there recently (but I have not).

Hi Terry!
Before we found St. John, we loved Lido Key, off of Sarasota, Florida, for Spring break. I recommend Lido Beach Resort: http://www.lidobeachresort.com/accomodations.htm
I can recommend all kinds of restaurants and activities here, if you choose Sarasota/Lido. We've stayed on Siesta Key too, and it's also very nice.

How about Yosemite? It should be really nice and beautifully green this spring. And with all of the snow we've had in the mountains recently, the waterfalls should be flowing real good too! There are some rental condos in that area too, but it's been a long time since we've done that, so I can't recommend anything in particular.

Great suggestions. I totally spaced out Florida. We lived in Venice, FL for a year so I know the area. Southwest airlines flies into Ft. Myers.

Iowayguy...we've been to Cabo. Great suggestion. However, we are done with Mexico even though we have some great deals from Denver. The explanation for this boycott is complicated. However thank you for your suggestion.

CAgirl...never thought about Yosemite...another great suggestion. Thank you!

Terry, if you're familiar with Ft. Myers, I'm sure you know Sanibel/Captiva Island. Just a beautiful place.

With the economy the way it is still you can get see some good deals out there. The only bad thing for that week is that it's when a lot of schools are off. But if you want warmth you might want to look at cruises. If you find something you want pricing on try http://www.cruisecompete.com/ You can get several offers there. And for sure if you go into the Caribbean you should be warm :D
Good luck!
