Accommodation Suggestions London
Hubby and I decided to go to GB in early August. I was thinking 4-5 nights in London and then 5 or so nights traveling around some. I bought the obligatory Fodors guide, have been surfing the web... and frankly Im overwhelmed. So Im open for any suggestions. 
I guess I should add, moderately priced, whatever that means these days. Thanks!

It has not been recently, but we have had a very pleasant stay twice at the Capital Hotel in Knightsbridge. We found it a very good location for sightseeing and Harrods is just steps away....

I know this will sound silly but when we were there last May we stayed at The Bolton's which is owned by Best Western. We got a great price of around $120 US a night. We booked directly through Best Western's site because they had the best rate.
It was VERY clean, modern, and newly renovated, but just know the rooms were small. It wasn't bad though because we were never in the room. There were some nice added extras like a heated towel rack, and a few other things that I cant recall. It is within 2 blocks of the Earls Court metro stop (On the Green Line) and we easily got to Parliament/Westminster Abby, Covent Garden, the West End, Tower Hill, etc. There are some decent restaurants near by and a great grocery store at the end of the street that we would stop by and grab fruit and water. They had a lot of take away meals which we had a few nights instead of eating out. The hotel isn't located in a high tourist area which we liked.
We knew London would be expensive but we didn't realize how much until I had a $7 coke at Covent Garden. Wow! London was the most expensive city we visited on our trip but this was the cheapest hotel we booked! lol
One of the most memorable things we did in London was see Romeo and Juliet at Shakespeare's Globe Theater. It has been reconstructed to look like the original and yes it is open air, and the seats are hard benches but looking back it was an experience I wouldn't want to miss.
