Has anyone here ever rented from Thrifty
on STT ? We have used Budget and Avis
before but not them. If so, can you share
your experience with me ?
Thanks Much...Sherry in SC

" I believe there's Magic here...."
We have not rented from them but since you inquire about renting in STT, I figured I would share a very positive experience with another STT company.
We planned a last minute trip and were forced to rent in STT rather than our initial preference of renting in STJ (becasue we were first time visitors and were told renting on STJ would be easier). Having to rent on STT actually worked out for the best. We rented from Amalie Car Rental which is owned by an older couple from France who could not be nicer and easier to deal with (they responded quickly to all emails prior to the trip and confirmed everything clearly). AS SOON AS WE STEPPED OFF THE PLANE, THE OWNERS OF AMALIE MET US WITH CAR KEYS AND COMPLETED PAPERWORK IN HAND (YOU COMPLETE A RENTAL FORM ON-LINE AS PART OF THE RESERVATION PROCESS) AND WE WERE OFF TO REDHOOK WITHIN 3 MINUTES.
To top it off, our vehicle was a brand new hard top Jeep with 50 miles on it so that was a huge plus.
The return of our vehicle could not have been easier. We called Amalie Car Rental after landing in in Redhook off the car ferry 15 minutes before we got to the airport. AS SOON AS WE DROVE INTO THE AIRPORT, ONE OF THE OWNERS IS VISIBLY FLAGGING US DOWN AND GUIDING US INTO A PARKING SPOT IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF AMERICAN AIR'S TERMINAL. The owner from Amalie inspected the car for 2 minutes and the transaction was complete without any other paperwork or hassles.
I can't say enough good things about Amalie Car Rental and the whole car rental experience with them.

Casco, I second that emotion!!! I cannot say enough nice things about Amalie Car Rental. My husband and I had the exact same wonderful experience last year and are using them again in March. Also, for those of you travelling with small children, the carseats are included with the rental at no additional cost.
On December 10, we decided to try to go to STJ on a last minute trip 12/24 to 12/31. Since that is a really busy time and we booked real late, the well known large car rental companies were all booked and EVERY company on STJ was booked.
So, I did a lot of "search" functions on this forum and found some people who recommended Amalie. I called and Amalie had a Jeep available so we could finish planning our vacation that was to occur in 2 weeks. Use the search feature on the site, read a bunch of posts, and you can likely find some of those same posts. We travel a lot and these folks know what they're doing; very easy and honest people to work with. Their site below:

They were recommended to me by a guy at work that vacations on STT multiple times a year. By far the best customer service you will find in a car rental company. The year prior we rented thru Budget at the airport and had such a horrible experience that our first STJ vacation started out with a sour note. You will not be disappointed. Magdalena is just wonderful. Travelling with 3 small kids and having a vehicle ready and waiting and the paperwork waiting for you upon arrival starts the vaca out just perfect. And then on departure, being able to pull up at the door of the terminal is mint. I cannot say enough.

We rented from Thrifty when we did our really budget trip a few years ago. Stayed in a very low cost condo in STT and went over to STJ most days. We only rented a car. Called from the airport & they came asap.(They are right at the exit, so make sure you have your bags. When we got there one guy was working & the lady before me was really not on Island time
She was not nice to the very friendly, working hard employee. I tried to be as friendly as possible, felt bad for the guy. I was rewarded with a jeep for the week for no extra charge( $130). He said he had no more cars. Saved big bucks! I would go with them again for sure
