Gallows Point or Lavender Hill

Post by IslandDreaming »

I have been going to St. John for years and I have always stayed at Gallows Point, which I love. But, I am considering staying at Lavender Hill, just to save some money.

Since I have never stayed at Lavender Hill I was wondering what your thoughts are. Should I continue to stay at Gallows or try Lavender?

Thanks for your help.

For me it is a no brainer for Lavender Hill. I have stayed in several units at Lavender Hill and they are all nice, clean, and comfortable. Now to be fair I have never actually been in a unit at Gallows but I have seen pictures of just about all of them. While they are very nice I cant see what justifies the HUGE price difference between the two. The way I look at it is staying at Lavender over Gallows saves me enough money to book an all day boat charter, cover my rental jeep and STILL have some change for the rum punch jar... Like I said, for me, its a no brainer

I second islandchef's opinion!!! Total no-brainer! Likewise, I have never actually been in a Gallows unit, so please take that into consideration. However, we are coming up on our 10th(?) stay at LH and have nothing but rave reviews. The pool is incredibly clean and rarely used (which I love), on-site laundry...complete with Tide & Downy!...the grounds are immaculately kept, each unit we have stayed in has been extremely well appointed and clean, Charlie (the manager) is super friendly and helpful, any minor maintenance issues we have encountered have been remedied in short time...and the VIEW from the wrap-around deck...are you kidding! Tell Brian I said so! :D (AND...this is not a paid advertisement...just a heartfelt review from a very satisfied client! )

You know I have to chime in on this and give Lavender Hills two thumbs up.

We stay there when we go down every year. Great views and the units are nice. The staff will do anything for you if you need help with anything. The money you save and the location can’t be beat if you want to me in walking distance from all the activity. We have stayed in several units and loved them all. Already booked for May of this year and can’t wait to get back.

Go with Lavender and put a few extra bucks in your pocket. It is worth it.

Lavender Hill has 2 bedroom units too. I tell ya, we've crammed a LOT of people into the one JC rents for a party.

Gallows Point has the ladder entry into the north side of Frank Bay. But, you can walk 150 feet further and enter Frank Bay at the beach for a snorkel.

Cheers, RickG

Brian, close your eyes when you read this. No, there are never parties at Lavender Hills.

Love em both. Advantage Lavender....2 bedrooms and price although they've creeped up there rate wise over the years. Disadvantage.....no afternoon sun on the pool.

Gallows advantage.....Views, oceanside pool with al day sun and oceanside hot-tub for stargazing and the sparkling jewel box view of STT at night. Disadvantage...one BRs only. That's ok with kids on the pull out couches but would be awkward with 4 adults. Price...They're approaching Caneel and that's just ridiculous IMO.

yeah I was wondering about the prices Agent99 because it looks like you could rent a villa for their prices..I guess it is ok if it was just my husband and I, but if we took another couple, I think we would just rent a villa and have the whole house plus our own pool..
Wish the prices were lower at Lavendar, Gallows, etc..

Actually, I do remember spending time at the pool in the sun last May in the afternoons.

The pool has sun until 3:30...ish... At that point...I'm crispy and ready for a shower...and happy hour! Although...I will admit...there have been a few days when another hour of sun would be nice!
