Children's Booster Seat for Rental Jeep???

Post by Taghan »

Hi everyone! I need some help. We have a few family members going to STJ with us and they're looking at bringing their 2 kids with them. However, they don't want to have to lug down their car booster seats with them.

So, do any of the car rental companies provide booster seats? If yes, which ones?

If no, is there somewhere on island these can be rented from?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I know I saw several car seats and boosters in the corner of St. John Car Rental in June. But check with them for the booster to be sure.

I do know that Flip Flop rents baby/kid stuff from Christy's Classics (I think that's right!) when she's on island.

Hope this helps!

I don't know how old the children are, and I will preface this post to say I have NO idea if I am correct, but our experience with our kids when they were out of the car seat (but wore booster seats at home) that we felt safer not using a booster for them.

This was with the soft sided jeeps that are usually rented. We felt the booster seat elevated them so much that it seemed on a sharp curve they could just tip out.

I am sure they couldn't but it was a strange feeling having your child's rear end at a height level to the jeep opening.

It is hard to explain in words, you would have to see it.

That said, I don't know what is actually safer. We opted not to use the ones we brought down.

By the time we travel, the girls will be 4 & 7 years old. I'm pretty sure they won't be renting a soft sided jeep as they'll need something for at least 4-6 people.

djmom - I think I can envision what you're talking about. I know the back seat in jeeps tend to feel pretty high up. What a scary thought!
