snorkeling confession
I think it's perfectly ok. We all have things that most people love on STJ and we just don't.
In an effort to make Pete feel like less of a freak (not saying you are a freak...not really...), I think everyone should say the one thing that most people like on STJ and that you just don't get.
I'll go first.
Uncle Joe's.

We probably hit it on a bad day but between the bugs, flies, overwhelming smell and the drunks we couldn't wait to get out of there.
By drunks I mean the real deal, the type that stagger around from person to person looking for someone to fight with. Not the happy type of drunks, the bitter, angry types and lots of them, early in the afternoon.

Loud people on the beach. Drives me insane, especially when the beach is fairly empty=peaceful.
People that sit right next to you, when there is tons of space everywhere else. We're not in Jersey!
Finally, that icky feeling about 7 days into the trip where I am thinking "I just want to be dry!" It usually happens when I am sitting in the Jeep freezing cold waiting for a rain shower to go by.
It doesn't last long.
I LOVE EVERYTHING ELSE!
Really!
(snorkling creeps me out too, although I go at least once a trip-usually the last day!)

"Sponges grow in the ocean...I wonder how much deeper it would be if that didn't happen."
I'm with Vicki - Joe's - not going to give any visuals here, but waiting for food once I saw the woman cooking do something REALLY GROSS, then went right back to cooking.... I get the eeeew creepies everytime I drive by. Also I love Vie's - beach, experience, she is such a lovely person, but I'm just not rocked by her food. And I feel kinda bad eating chicken while their kin are watching. Once while I was there a 70ish extremely overdressed elegant woman(long flowing white sarong, scarf and matching hat, high heels etc.) arrived by taxi and said she came all the way from New York just for this. And I thought, well a little weird but good for her. She's getting it or trying to in her own way. I think one of the greatest things on St. John for me is Larry, Cheryl and The Tourist Trap. It's perfect in so many ways. I sent my brother in law their way when he was there a couple of weeks ago and he hated it. He forgot I had recommended it and went out of his way yo tell me not to go there on my next visit lol! That's what I love about St. John, for the most part, to each his own and most everyone respects other's opinions. I'm sitting here eating popcorn with St. John Grill Rub - yummm! Thanks Ruth!
