Trip Report 12/26-1/2 Day 2
Trip Report 12/26-1/2 Day 2
12/27: I wake up at 1:30, 2:30, 3:30...finally get up at 4:15...I just can't take it anymore!
Roosters are crowing and I want to enjoy the sounds of nature and there is nothing going to keep me in bed any longer. Go out to deck and soak in the sounds. 4:40, make coffee, hubby is now wide awake and we sit on the deck. The villa greeters (3 cats) show up for some love and sit by the door looking in whenever we go in.

What we named the drooling black kitty cracked us up all week long...We meant it in the nicest possible way, I swear! It's not meant to offend anyone as we are a very accepting bunch...but the 1st thing that came to my mind when I saw him was "Retardo Montalbon"
Sorry guys, no good kitty treats yet! Doesn't stop them, they are still hanging around...one hops up and gets comfy on my lap. 5:15 I hit the shower (nice outdoor job, feels fantastic!)
I love watching the sun come up on St John

Around 6:30 am I start whipping up jello shots so we've got them for tonight.
By 8am the other 2 finally get up. I say finally because for me, it's insane to waste a minute of daylight on this beautiful island!
We get ready and head off to the Inn at Tamarind Court for breakfast. We order orange juice all around and then a ham & egg burrito for me, sausage & egg burrito for hubby, pancakes & bacon for Dawn & Jess. Wonderful food, too much to finish, and total bill of $45, a great deal for us!
Now we're off to Cruz Bay Watersports for snorkel gear. $50 for the whole week, $70 if you need a prescription mask like Dawn & Jess. Hubby gets hooked up with a tube of "stuff" to use on his mustache so the mask works...more on that later.
We head to Conrad's and score a spot for the day. We've decided to taxi from the ferry dock to Trunk Bay for the day. It's started to drizzle, but we're going to get wet anyway. It's fun for my sis & I to watch the faces of our newbies as they see Trunk Bay from the overlook for the first time. We arrive at the beach and set up camp. Then hit the water for some play time

Now it's time to snorkel. Dawn & I learned last time we were here, so we are nowhere near experts, but we'll share what we know. Jess figures it out quick, hubby cannot get his mask to seal no matter what amount of goop he applies to his mustache. Now he's got a decision to make. To shave or not to shave? How much do you really want to experience this. He weighs the pros and cons & realizes that if his mustache were it's own person, it would be old enough to drink...the mustache wins. Hubby is a laid back guy, and more than happy to chill on the beach while we head out to experience the world below the water.

We head towards hubby for drinks from the snack bar, chill a bit, and head back out to just play in the waves. We have a blast letting the waves pull us around and doing a little minor body surfing.

Head back around 2:30, grab jeep, head back to villa to clean up. Head out again about 3:15 and park at Slimo's this time. Short walk up to Woody's where we just want snacks & they're out of onion rings, bananas, and some sort of salad we didn't want anyway. 2 orders of potato skins (3 in each order) loaded with cheese and bacon, one order of curly fries, wings, and drinks.
Then we shop Caravan Jewelers (because we love it there) & head back towards Wharfside & do more shopping. Dinner is Surly Cantina: 3 tacos (1 steak, 2 beef), 2 chicken quesadillas, 2 chicken enchiladas, 1 burrito, 4 root beers: $75. Ouch! We take it back to the villa to eat. We sit in the screened porch area and play games that make us laugh so hard we cannot breathe. The fact that many, MANY jello shots were consumed may have had something to do with it.
Yes, this island is right where I am meant to be

In what appears to be becoming a habit, we're in bed fairly early...10:30pm tonight.
Tomorrow: Francis Bay & hubby is driving like a local!

Great Report - Thanks
As someone with a 30+ year old mustache, I can certainly identify with your husband. Since I have never been able to keep my mask from leaking, I am more than happy to chill on the beach with a drink and "guard" the supplies while my family explores the deep. Most relaxing part of the vacation for me.

Because on a previous trip trying to park at Trunk proved to be impossible. Once we got there, we were glad we opted for the taxi, Trunk was packed and there were people all along the road too.liamsaunt wrote:I am enjoying your reports so far!
I am curious...if you had a car, why did you park in town and take a taxi to Trunk Bay instead of driving over to the beach?
I thought of Dickhead from your reports when I saw him LOL...we named him S-head.mindehankins wrote:Your black and white condo cat looks so much like Sam/Dickhead from Cruz Views that I had to go look to see whether it was him (from our photos). Nope, not the same but maybe DH progeny!
Enjoying your reports! I think wasting a minute of daylight asleep is a mortal sin as well.
Keep em coming
