St. John Beach Oscars

Post by Lovermont »

There was a topic on the "other forum" regarding Trunk Bay, and whether or not it was a beach worthy of a visit from an overseas "beach lover". There were many replies singing the praises of beaches other than Trunk, and it got me thinking about giving awards to the beaches of St. John.

Feel free to dispute my list or add your own awards. Let's face it, every beach on STJ is special in some way.

St. John Beach Oscars

The winner of “Most Beautiful Beach from a lookout, but do I really need to pay the $4 to hang out with cruise ship passengers” is – Trunk

The winner of “I’d like a beach with facilities so that I can change into my swimsuit and perhaps chill awhile and eat my lunch and enjoy the view” is – Hawksnest

The winner of “Wow, am I glad I discovered this beach; I will be back” is Denis

The winner of “Beach that’s easiest to get to directly from the road (and takes my breath away)” is – Maho

The winner of “Amazing glass water and beautiful sailboats moored right in front of me” is – Francis

The winner of “The trip getting there is half of the fun” is – Little Lameshur

The winner of “I’ll keep this on my list for a great snorkel” is – A TIE! Blue Cobblestone and Haulover

The winner of “I’d like a beach lounger and an order of Conch Fritters please” is – Vie’s beach/Hanson Beach

The winner of “I feel like renting a kayak and discovering that Cay over there” is – Cinnamon Bay

The winner of “It’s raining on the north shore, where do we go now” is – Salt Pond

The winner of “I’m tired of beautiful white sand, I want crashing waves” is – Drunk Bay

The winner of “I’d like to have some fantastic ruins with my beach, with a side of turtles and starfish” is – Waterlemon

The winner of “I’m staying in Cruz Bay, and I’d like to walk to a beach” is – A walk to Salomon and Honeymoon

The winner of "I do not want to be around too many people, but I still want to be on the north shore" goes to Jumbie.
This may change with the new trail that was just put in, but I guess it gets it for now.

My personal favorite is that spot on the west side of Maho under that tree by the black rocks.

What a great list and I agree with all of it! I also agree with Janet that if you get to Trunk really early there are no cruise ship tourists.

I'd say these awards are pretty much right on the money! :D
