OK, I'm officially pissed.

So the snow storm has passed here in Jersey, but the mountains of snow are far from gone.
The morning of "the big dump", My Sweet Amy & I went out at @ 7 a.m. to dig out our cars from the 2+ feet of snow.
No biggie, she's a real go-getter.
Yesterday morning, however, one of the plows had decided to use her handicapped only parking spot to displace their huge piles of snow from regular parking spots.
How mother-f****** ignorant can people be?!?!?
Amy can definately get around, she's not shy about defeating her handicap, and I share her pride.
But how long is this going to go on?-
The answer- forever.
This ignorance is everywhere. It was a pain in the ass for both of us to dig our cars out to begin with. Then someone behind the wheel of a plow shits all over our hard work, while ignoring the fact that not only is the person parking in the handicapped spot already a little less off, but completely disregards them moreso by making their parking spot even less accessable.
Think about it next time you decide to wait in the car in someone elses designated parking spot while your significant other runs into the store, "just to grab a few quick things".
It's disgusting, and it'll never end.
Thanks for letting me vent. I'm still irritated, though.

That's really frustrating. It really makes me angry when I see able-bodied people without handicapped stickers using reserved parking spots. It's up there with people leaving shopping carts in parking spots instead of in the corrals...some people are so inconsiderate and rude!!

A story about a "good" plower, sort of -
A friend of ours has a excavating business and does snow removal in the winter. In 96, we had a heck of a blizzard and the town of shut down for days.
The town only had money in the budget to clear the middle of the streets, not the far sides used for on-street parking in front of people's homes.
So using a front end loader, the friend clears out a parking space for his elderly next door neighbor. We live in a small enough town that no one would ever dream of parking in front of someone else's house, especially an elderly person's house.
As soon as he finishes, a college student rushes into the spot.
The friend hops out of the loader and explains he cleared it for Mr. Elderly and "why don't you park across the street in the cleared college lot?"
College student basically tells him to F-off.
Friend gives him one more chance and tells him either you move or I will bury your car under so much snow, you won't find it until spring.
The college kid choise poorly.
Friend went and scooped up snow from everyone's driveways and curbs. There was more than 18 inches on the ground so we are talking a lot of snow.
He buried the kid's car under all that snow. The size of the pile was was at least 15 feet high and 15 feet long. It sat like that for weeks until it all melted.

Jim, that's horrible. I would definetly be on the phone about that one.
We were lucky this time. We live on a pretty big corner lot and the plows usually come flying down the street AFTER the sidewalks have been cleaned. Pisses off husband so bad. This time, smaller trucks, slower speed PLUS...I made Glenn buy a snow blower. I swear he did almost the whole neighborhood. People were very grateful.
If you haven't gotten a resolution yet, I'd get on the phone and blast whoever is reponsible for that driver.

Mr. Elderly had a driveway at the back of his property where he could park but you know how in-town lots tend to be long and skinny. It is much easier for him to park right at the street at his front door.mahojim wrote:Awesome story, except, what about Mr.Elderly & his spot?

sadly it happens so much. Am so tempted when see people in handicapped spots w/o stickers to wait for them to come out and ridicule them or to call the police on them. But niether would solve anything, if the person had any self-pride they wouldn't have parked there to begin with, so ridicule would not affect them and the polics would never show up for such a reason. sad as that is.
It gets my Irish up badly though and wish there was something to be done to these ignorant,lazy idiots... My one GD has JRA, very badly in her knees and there are days she can barely walk, but she gets embarrassed if treated differently and doesn't like her parents using the handicap sticker cause of her. Like your Amy she works on overcoming her problem.
All we can do is hope that someday, they are treated in the same manner, they treat others.
You & Amy are special,and so wonderful together.
