New addition to my family

Post by Nancy_B »

Just wanted to share some happy news with my Forum friends....we adopted a new dog on Sunday!

I have been a bit quiet for me the past several months. In August, we had to put our best boy, Lager to sleep (you may have seen him in my photos when we re-did our shore house). He was 13.3 years old and had been suffering from a mast cell tumor. We had it removed and it grew back and he survived 2 months post surgery. In the end, he started to grow weak and couldn't breath so we had to make that horrible decision. We know that he is a puppy again in another place, playing and swimming with his Dad, Foster who had passed 3 years ago this December.

So, on to happy news....we adopted Bella in June from a family who was moving (9 month old Yellow Lab at the time). She is great but crazy! She is mouthy and jumpy but she's learning and overall, she's a great dog who just had bad owners.

Sunday, we were matched with a black lab rescue. Her name is Trixie and she is 1.5 years old. She was rescued from a puppy mill in early November where she had lived in a rabbit hutch. She was loved in foster care and was put up for adoption last week. You can see her blog here (she's the tiniest thing!): http://brooklinelabrescue.org/blog/broo ... og/trixie/

We love her and Bella loves her. There is only a 4 month age difference between the two and their energy levels are crazy! They are having a blast together. Both have training needs but we know they will be great dogs! Here is a photo of them from Sunday night Image

Thanks for sharing my good news and take care,
Nancy

Pa_girl, can't wait for our trip but now worried about leaving them.

lprof, our 'boys' were yellow labs and now we call them the 'girls' as you said. Labs are the very best!

Thank you!

Nancy, I know how you feel about your losses. We've lost 3 cats in one year...BUT....

It's so much fun when another animal comes into your life. They choose you.

Have alot of fun with them!

I know how you feel, too. my husband and I had a black and yellow lab, sisters, one year apart from each other. we had to make that horrible decision. BUT, they both lived good long lives. the yellow passed away at 15 and the black passed away at 16. it took us 2 years to finally decide to get another dog. what a joy animals bring to our lives!!!

This post makes me feel all happy inside! I read the blog and I have to say that Trixie is so lucky to have gotten you for her family! There's no better feeling in the world than giving an abused animal the life they deserve. :)

Congratulations to you and your new puppies. You are right about labs being jumpy. Our yellow lab is a year
and a half and we are just breaking her of that habit.
They are so precious and I wish you many happy years with both of them. You are brave to take on 2. One is all I can handle. She follows me everywhere and always wants to be petted but I love it! Tessie wishes Bella and Trixie a wonderful life!
