It's Day two and we're off to Stone Harbor/Coral Bay
Goooood Moooooorning St. John! Rise and shine, it’s a beautiful morning and we're happy to be here!

View of the car barges-yes they can be noisy, but it is what it is.
Now we had a car rental at Conrad’s which we knew we couldn’t pick up until 10:30 or so, so we packed up our stuff, grabbed some quick bites at the Inn, and went exploring. Stopped into St. John Spice to restock on some of the world famous Cruz Bay Grill Rub and see if Ruth or Ron were in, but no luck there. Picked up a great Virgin Islands water bottle though while we browsed!
Browsed some other shops, checked in at Connections (addicted to my email account!) and wandered over to JJ’s for a more complete breakfast. By this time we thought the 2 door soft sided jeep we’d reserved would be ready, but it wasn’t still-apparently the person was late in returning it. They were getting pretty backed up at Conrad’s. Somebody ret’d a car w/o gassing it up
-trust me, you don’t want to do that!!! We’re pretty mellow about the whole car rental thing-we like Conrad’s since we can park there-and Mike is really good about maneuvering the car in that lot.
Since it was getting close to check out time I went back to the Inn and collected our stuff and waited while Mike hung around for the car to come in. Now I actually had to wait longer than I thought and I was getting worried thinking he’d taken a wrong turn or something or was stuck forever circling the roundabout, but he made it just fine. By the way regarding the roundabout-people will probably be on the learning curve for a long time as to who goes when/where. Plus everyone’s so darn nice that they wave you through when really they most likely have the right of way.
One roundabout for you:

And my handsome husband with his lemon yellow jeep!

We were now due to meet up with our greeter from Great Caribbean Getaways-Marianne. We called her and told her we still needed to get some groceries so first we headed to Starfish (had to stop for a big iguana in the road), and then met her at the top of Gifft Hill (I think) where Tony’s food truck is. We were on our way out to Stone Harbor in Coral Bay.

Stone Harbor is located just above Cocolobo Plaza, where Lily’s, Aqua Bistro, Crabby’s, etc. are. We picked this place because we like being able to walk to places-this past March we’d stayed at Casa Blanca in Cruz Bay for the same reason-it’s nice to not have to drive everywhere, and we like being pretty close to the water. We like the laid back vibe of Coral Bay too, but it's also nice to stay on the Cruz Bay side and have easier access to all the restaurants! On the way to Coral Bay we had another first-a big pig in the road! Hadn’t seen pigs in the road before,
Wish I'd had my camera ready...
Well, Marianne, had us drive into the driveway first-and it is the typical, steep, need to make a sharp turn driveway. The views from this place are outstanding! I have pictures of the inside too, if anybody wants me to email them to you.
Initial views:

We’d recommend this place; again, if anybody wants more specifics pm me or post a note and I can give you more information.
It was getting to be later afternoon now, so after settling in, we went down to Aqua Bistro for some food and excellent drinks, picked up snorkel, mask and snorkeling vests at Crabby’s for $70 for the two of us for the week and started out villa gravity at the pool just admiring the view.
Later we took a walk down past the gas station where we saw another typical site on this side:

(by the way, gas was a few cents cheaper on the Coral Bay side)
There's a LOT more goats (and donkeys too-but that comes later) than I remember-are they on the increase???
Whew, I think that about did it for that day!
