Restaurant gift certificates

Post by laurie »

Have been searching many of the restaurant sites on STJ for the option of purchasing gift certificates. We have friends who will be on island after Christmas and would like to give them a gift certif to a restaurant. I have not found one restaurant that offers online certificates. This may be a business opportunity for someone. I remember when we were traveling to the BVI one year, there was a coupon book for many restaurants and bars. Something like a coupon book would be a great idea for restaurants. The coupon book offered a few yrs ago was ok but nothing special. I hate calling each restaurant and asking if they have them. Ideas?? Ruth, maybe something to think of for your site. Thanks Laurie

Stone Terrace used to offer them on line. But of course that won't help you now ;)
Truthfully with the way things are right now I might not feel comfortable with a GC. Could you make them one and give them cash or a visa card with a pre paid amount? Then you know it's good anywhere.
not as much fun, I know .. but safer bet.

Post by girlma »

Hi, I work for The Tourist Trap and we can absolutely prepare a gift certificate for your friends & you can pay us via PayPal. Based on the check average here at The Tourist Trap a good price for 2 people for eating & frozen drinks is $50. Our entree's average about $12 and our frozen drinks are $6 ea.

Please note: if you don't know the Tourist Trap just let me tell you that we won "The Best New Restaurant on St. John" from The Daily News this year, we are currently the #1 ranked St John Restaurant on the TripAdvisor Popularity Index, and The New York Times just called us "the brilliantly anomalous Tourist Trap" Please contact me directly: cherylgeller@cybergal.com to arrange a gift certificate if you like! Thanks, cheryl

While we do not offer them online as of yet, I would be happy to send you one for Shipwreck. You can pm me with the details and I can mail it to you, to your friends or we can hold it at the restaurant.

A coupon book was actually considered for a Coral Bay project but never had enough merchants interested to make it viable. Most business' were being very cautious
at the time of it's implementation and as most of you know, advertising is one of the first things to get the ax when the budget rolls around. Maybe next year.

I've had an occasion to both received a gift cert for a restaurant and purchase a gift cert for a friend from a store.

My MIL called Miss Lucy's. They did not have an actual gift cert but they promised that if she paid up front, they would credit my hubby & I off the bill when we got on island. So, we got on island, called to make a reservation, mentioned my MIL & we had $75 taken off our tab! Worked great.

Ruth was kind enough to do a similar thing when I wanted to buy a STJ Spice gift cert for a friend & new hubby honeymooning on STJ. I paid Ruth in advance, gave her my friends names and they had a credit once they got on island!

Just two of the reasons why I love that crazy island!
