Hey does Verizon have service in St John. I am leaving my cell home but have two teenage kids that are crying about no cell service.

I am sure that someone else can answer you will first hand experience, but I have read that you will be roaming with Verizon on STJ and that you will have huge bills if you choose to use the phone.

Definitely will have roaming charges.

Money better saved for their college education. You'll get the the roaming signal as soon as you step off the plane on STT

Yes you can use Verizon. The service is fine. HOWEVER, you will be charged for roaming. If you do use your cell while on vacation, you will have a nice bill waiting at home when you return. I still bring my phone when we go down to St. John, but after getting my bill last year (almost $200 and its usually $50); I won't use it to call friends/family back home every day!

When we were down in Jan. my son had his cell phone and we don't getr charge roaming down there with cingular and after the first day he shut it off and got into Island time and didn't turn it back on till we were home.

LOL - I have a elderly mother watching my two dogs for me, a kid in college who feels the need to talk to her mommy three times a day and my own business with customers who think I'm available 24/7...Hmmm NO service, you say??? I'll be sure to let them know that cell phones aren't allowed on the island. 8)

I use Cingular and don't recall any roaming charges while on STT and STJ. Also, not sure if it makes a difference but my phone is quad-band.

Cingular is great, no problems last trip as long as I had line of site to St. Thomas, including data service.

I have Verizon, I'm on the "America's Choice" plan and was charged $1.29/minute for all incoming and outgoing calls while I was in the BVI. While I was in St. Thomas, it was $.69/minute.
