Umbrella Drink Tour - 2009 / Rain, Rain Go Away

I looked at the time, it was a little after 7am, but it’s still pretty dark out.
You guessed it – monsoon come – again.
It was raining really hard –umbrella and rain gear hard. Since we had neither, I figured I’d go back to bed and when I woke up for real, it would all be gone.
Don’t remember what time we finally got up, but it was still raining and rumbling. I mentioned that the view from the balcony is pretty good; however, it’s not covered, so you’re kind of stuck inside in the rain. (The lower units are covered)
We found a few leftover snack bars, yogurt and some pineapple juice; so, that sustained us for breakfast. With Quito Rymer on the iPod (nice dock and speakers), we relaxed in the comfy chairs and read (we had each brought 4 books; we still hadn’t finished one!).
As it got close to noon, the rain started to let up; not stop, just let up. We decided it was time for lunch and SHOPPING!
We needed inside dining, so we went to Woody’s. It was pretty empty, except for a smiling Colts fan who gave me a smirk. Was that any of you?
Grilled Mahi sandwich with pasta salad.
The pasta salad tasted as good as it did when I made it last summer.
Don doesn’t grasp the idea of food porn; so his lunch was half gone before I got to take pictures.
At some point last week, Don decided he was doing all of his Christmas shopping at St. John Spice. We know CBGR, but haven’t tried a lot of other things. So, I got a list of Mary Beth’s favorite things and off we went to Christmas shop.
After emptying most of Ruth and Ron's shelves we moved on to Mongoose Junction, where it was easy getting into the Christmas spirit.
There’s Big Planet, Island Fancy, Bougainvillea, R&I Patton, Caravan Gallery, Sugarbirds, Friends of the National Park, Hurricane Alley, Bajo el Sol Gallery – did we miss any?
Shopped ‘til it was time to drop into the Tap Room again. I tried the Root Beer this time (sans rum); MMMMM good!
(love the taps).
After a $ucce$$ful day, it was back to Grande Bay for cocktail hour; we were determined to empty at least one bottle of rum this week.
We didn’t see the sun all day, but we did catch a little as it set
(is that a red sky at night? )
Dinner tonight was LaTapa.
Not only is it highly recommended by many forumites, it was also recommended by the chef on a sailing charter a few years ago. It did not disappoint.
The rain had stopped, but we still opted for an inside table.
We started with bread and 3 sauces
followed by Josephine’s greens with goat cheese salad.
Tuna for Don
Halibut for me.
It was a delightful dinner. Great service and ambience enhanced with the Samba Combo.
We were too full for dessert, so we went for our evening stroll.

We stopped in at the Gecko Gazebo again and enjoyed a Chocolate Banana Bushwacker – totally decadent.
Then somehow ended up back at the Beach Bar.
All I can say is – A crappy day in paradise is EXPEN$IVE!!
Tomorrow - Let the sun shine - please!

We liked Grande Bay. The unit was nice and the location great. We only spent a few nights at the end of the trip there. We didn't have a car, but there was a space for the unit in the garage.

And the food pics, not a seafood eater but DH is so he'll be in his glory.
Foodwise, lots of good non-seafood dishes are available. Don had a pork chop at ZoZo's that was to die for.
