trying to get a ticker...foiled by airlines today

Post by KTinTX »

Well, I was all set to get a new ticker this morning and surprise the kids for Christmas with their first trip to STJ. However, all the fares out of Houston jumped by $30-$200 per person this morning!!! And this was for flights over a two week span in June. I can handle the $30/pp increase, but the flight times are horrible.

Guess I'll keep waiting as the flights show to be practically empty at this point.

The 4:10 pm Delta flight to ATL looks to have sold about 15-20 seats in the last week...so I guess they raise their fares for a few days to see if they can make it up.

I'll get it done though...maybe a snorkel in everyone's stocking????

right now I can get about the same fares as last week, but have a nearly 4 hour layover in ATL!!! ugh

I feel your pain. It is so hard to believe there isn't a non stop flight to STT from Houston. I always go through Miami on AA. PITA, but I usually take the 6:00 am flight. Have you checked those rates? I know the prices out of Houston are rediculous. It seems going to Atlanta from Houston is kind of going the wrong way to get there, but if that's the best price, it's better than not going. I know when you take the family, it's a whole different ball game than going with a spouse, or SOTB, where you are only payiing for one. :D Good luck. It seems the good deals are few and far between.

The main reason for Delta to ATL is that I can leave from Hobby, which is only 15-20 minutes from the house as opposed to IAH which takes me 45-60 minutes of driving. There is also the parking which is cheaper at Hobby, too...and being so close we can probably get a friend or family person that owes me a favor to drop off and pick up!!!!
