Which store for provisions when going to Redhook?
Which store for provisions when going to Redhook?
First time going to STJ and we’re renting a jeep on STT and taking the ferry over. The car rental agency suggested stopping at Food Center which is suppossedly on the way from the airport to Redhook. I’d like to get most provisions prior to getting to STJ (I assuming stuff is cheaper but primary reason is because I want to avoid having to go back out to the store at 5:00 PM after our villa coordinator brings us to our villa for orientation).
Being a first timer, I don’t want to go off the main road that takes me from the airport to Redhook. Where should I stop to get basics such as bottled water, beer, snacks, wine

Cost u less is great for lots of things and best prices in the VI, BUT, not alway the best bet for a one week stay. Packaging is alway LARGE We always do a big shop there when we are there for a few weeks.. Like Sam's things come in a very large size,that's great if you need a 7 lb box of oatmeal! wine and beer is cheaper there
The best quality and selection for meat, fish, veg, bread, deli is at Marina Market just across the street from Red Hook. It will cost more but the the steak won't taste like leather!

I'm jumping on the Cost U Less train!
Groovy prices, and easy to find.
Do yourself at least one of 2 favors;
1-stop at Duffy's Love Shack for some unbelievable Sweet & Tangy Fiji Wings on the way to the ferry-it's literally 1-200 yards from the ferry dock...-
and
2-if you happen to get a lift on the Roanoke Car Barge, get out of the car,after you back on obviously, and go upstairs to see if they're selling chilly drinks. Even if they aren't, it's a much better cruise to STJ than sitting in your car like most other folks will be doing.
Also, think twice about the round-trip tickets for the barge.
If you're sure that you'll be back to STT for a daytrip during the week,go for it. You can wait for your particular car ferry. Otherwise, other barges don't honor the tix from other companies, and if you're in a rush to get to, say, the airport as you depart, you may not have the option to wait for your original vessel that you purchased the round trip tix from. You'll have to pay again for a one way trip.
Good luck-
and always-
