@loria-- We are bareboating this one and we have been so graciously been been blessed with Mr. Scubagirls skills at the helm. Ably supported of course by Mr. Gromit (acting as cheif surgeon) and Mr. VickiH aka callsign "studmuffin"

I can of course be counted on to provide some pretty decent grub.

Scubagirl will be the cruise director and our own Vicki H will be the resident paparazzi ensuring that our infamous "three hour tour" will be captured frame by frame so as to blackmail me when I run for public office two years hence.

Should be a BLAST!

I am so very envious. We went back and forth over whether to do a bareboat or Europe trip this coming summer to celebrate the BIG 50. We decided on Europe... but... now I don't know :-(

Loria-- that's funny I was JUST going to ask how lil' bro was doing!!

My friend who helped you guys out has volunteered to go to Afghanistan for a year at the Embassy there. So he's leaving Malawi a bit ahead of schedule do do his stint there.

So glad to hear that Lil bro learned his lesson!!

Is he here in DC now?

HUgs!

yup, for just a couple more weeks, then home for the holidays (we will be in STJ!) and then he is off to ski in whistler and then off to somewhere near calcutta with his girlfriend..... I know he wants to be back in Africa....but the GF is going to India and they need clean water too....so off he goes ......
if you decide to run for national office, i will be your NY campaign manager!! (barring any unforseen photos that result from this trip.......)

Oh loria-- I'm not THAT ambitious. Just sticking close to home!

We'll see what happens in the next couple of weeks.

Would love to have had a chance to meet lil bro. I think I owe him a kick in the ass and he owes me a drink!

I think the world needs more politician-pirates that know how to cook and make killer jell-o shots, while at the same time helping stranded people caught up in political coups half way around the world and maintaining a sense of humor, don't you?

I mean, what could go wrong?

Like Gromit, this is my first sail and I'm really looking forward to it. Just a year ago, we were virtual strangers. Who'd have thought that we'd be sharing a week on a sailboat? It's amazing the plans you come up with after a day of Jello shots....

I have the camera shined up and ready, the batteries charged, and about 16G of memory cards, so the Sailboat Paparazzi is ready! Every moment will be adequately captured to savor later, laugh at later, or groan about later....only time will tell!

V-- hubby was at Costco yesterday buying the meat and he wanted to know if he should pick up a new digital camera (we have an older one that needs to be replaced but it's not urgent-- he calls it "the brick") and I told him not to worry about it since I knew that you would take enough pics of everyone and everything to share!!

I can't believe we're ALMOST there!!

As for the unlikely pairing, our day on the boat with Syd last year was like magic. We just cliqued, I felt like we had known each other for a million years -- and the jell-o shots certainly helped

Let's face it, good people are good people. And when you know you know.

We are going to have a blast, unless we die, in which case we can armchair quarterback from heaven or hell whichever we get to first 8)

Nobody's gonna die!!!! Not on my watch!

You're all going to have a great time, however I might have to break Vicki's camera before the end of the trip.

I leave work in 30 mins!!!!!!!!!! Don't come back until the 21st, then work 3 days, and off for another 10 days. I love my vacation, oh, and my job!!!
