There is a known problem with phpBB (the underlying program used on the forum) and Internet Explorer 8. The phpBB bug-tracker does not currently have a fix.

Installing and using firefox or chrome is probably the best solution.

Oh, I’m so glad to see that others have had the same problem as me.

It’s so irritating, because you can write in Word, copy it to the topic, but then it’s nearly impossible to do anything with the text. Change colours, bold it etc.

It hasn’t been in this way before, I use the same computer as before, so for me it’s a mystery.
And I’m not clever enough to find another way to do it.

Thanks for that TrvlJohn - well - another fine Microsoft product... I will look into this. I tried to upgrade to phpBB 3 awhile ago... but it crashed the server repeatedly and could not get any help with that issue...

Anthony I am using Firefox for posting and you;re right no problem here. MY issue is when I use Microsoft explorer as the browser. What a PITA!

Don't you have a magic wand or something? Doesn't Ruth sell those in her shop?

Well when you (aka Microsoft) hire hamsters to write code you get what you get.

I just had the bouncing thing happen to me...yuck! What about Safari--if I use Safari will it stop? That's the only other browser I have right now. Sorry to be such a technical dunce.

Ya, I'm seeing this as an IE 8 problem handling a textarea which has COLS set and also a width set via
an inline style. The workaround for IE for sites seems to be to set the COLS value to an arbitrarily high number. Easier to use Firefox or Chrome on Windows and Firefox or Safaria on Max.

So, not a virgin-islands-on-line.com, but a Microsoft IE 8 problem.

Good luck!

Yeah, you are correct Rick... Unfortunately, PhpBB will most likely have to find a way to edit their code to solve the problem because MS is incredibly slow to address Bugs.

I agree with you about using another browser... The only reason I use Internet Explorer is to download Chrome (www.google.com/chrome) or Firefox (www.getfirefox.com) :D

I'm using Firefox as a stop gap measure but I'd prefer if Anthony could put in a fix. I'm a creature of habit!

Nice to have techie geniuses on this forum for guidance and advice!

Hugs!
