Simply put Jim, some people are just irresponsible, self-absorbed, inconsiderate, spoiled as***s - and you, nor anyone else can change them. Their behavior is not your fault. You've lived & learned - now let it go & try to edit THEM out of your memories as best as you can :-).
Peace,

MahoJim: I am still very curious about how your friends treat their house? I have friends that really don't take care of their own property and it is possible that this is how your friends are. Curious by nature . . . can't help myself.

Since they knew that what they were doing really bothered you, their behavior sounds passive-aggressive toward you to me. If you really want to know what's behind it, you'd better ask yourself if you really want to hear the truth and then be prepared to hear it. It will either clear the air or end the relationship so be prepared to accept either outcome.

We have never traveled with another couple to STJ. Actually, I don't think we've ever done any traveling with friends in our 10 years of marriage. (In our previous lives, we both have.)

You think you know someone and then, you live with them for a week and realize you really DON'T know them. You get to see all of their daily habits and moods and if they don't jibe with yours, yuck.

I am so sorry these people spoiled your vacation. Glad you found a safe place to vent! Now, start looking forward to April. :)

Jimmy, Rick and I are wonderful travelling companions, maybe we should go with you next time! I'll even take out the trash all by myself every day!

Sorry to hear about your bad week, I was so hoping it would be blissful after all you have been through this year!

Jimmy -

That just plain old SUCKS! This couple sounds incredibly rude and inconsiderate. Even if there was some sort of underground beef they had with you, why take it out on the villa by not following a few simple rules. I am mad at them for doing this to you and Amy  .

But, I am so happy to see that another trip is planned - if you don't deserve it, no one does.

Hey, Jim, I'll be there on STJ May 1-15. Hopefully we'll get a chance to get together while you're still there. What are your dates again? Be sure to sign up on the travel calendar :D .

Sorry to hear about the issues with your friends, Jimmy. You do learn a lot about people when traveling together---we've been lucky and its mostly been a bonding experience, but when it goes wrong I'm sure it can be dreadful.

On the bright side, be glad you weren't sharing a boat for a week---those tight quarters would really intensify the togetherness!

Have a great trip in April. Anxious to see photos of Sago Palms.

A close friend of my parents paid my then-finance, now husband the compliment of saying "I would let you on my boat for a week."

Our joint STJ trips have been successful (so far!) because the majority of us have lived together.

But we shared a condo with on the beach in FL once. That trip was pure hell. Never in my wildest dreams did I think someone (well two, a couple) could behave so badly.
