Health care reform:
No Linne, believe me, I understand that small biotechs are doing a ton of research and then selling the compound to Big Pharma. License & Acquisition has become as big a part of the Big Pharma growth strategy as R&D.
As for your question to XOXO - Can you please restate? I didn't understand exactly what you were asking.

Sox: I don't think Linne is talking about my question. I think it is the question Linne asked me about prescription meds. I am not sure.
XOXO wrote:Linne: maybe someone else can answer this question. We don't go to the Doctor often or have many prescriptions so I have never checked prices. I would assume that pharmacy are competitive and would have comparable prices for prescriptions--this is how capitalism works--but I haven't checked myself. I do take a bio-identical that I cannot get at my hometown pharmacy--I have to use a compounding pharmacy. I wonder if bio-identical medicine will still be available??linne wrote:xoxo I'm being curious now.
Can you find exactly the same medicine from the same firm to different prices in the pharmacies?
Like "todays offer", 100 Zanidip only ....?
Nothing wrong with that, but it isn't so here.

Here's an op-ed piece published in the liberal Washington Post this morning. Very tough on Obama, accusing him of misleading the public on health care reform. An excerpt, followed by link:

~ Robert J. Samuelson, Washington Post, 11/16/09So what do they do? Just the opposite. Their far-reaching overhaul of the health-care system -- which Congress is halfway toward enacting -- would almost certainly make matters worse. It would create new, open-ended medical entitlements that threaten higher deficits and would do little to suppress surging health costs. The disconnect between what President Obama says and what he's doing is so glaring that most people could not abide it. The president, his advisers and allies have no trouble. But reconciling blatantly contradictory objectives requires them to engage in willful self-deception, public dishonesty, or both.
