food questions

Post by djmom »

Is there a certain day the fishermen come in and sell seafood (have I heard lobsters?) on the dock? Or is it just random. And we have looked before- are they easily identified?

Is the Big Belly Deli still open? I was unsure after some of the posts.

And where did someone say they have the best bagels on the island?

Thanks for any help!

Two weeks ago today, Big Belly was open at lunch time - not sure about breakfast.

We stopped at Big Belly a couple of times in the morning to get sandwiches to take to the beach, and both times he was cooking breakfast. That was between 10/29 and 11/5 so I'd imagine it's still on.

I think someone posted that you can ask the charter captains (near the Westin?) what time they expect to be back from their fishing charters, and I believe that after their clients buy whatever they want to keep from the catch that they'll sell you fish right there on the dock - haven't done it myself, so your mileage may vary...
