Any thoughts about Hinds Restaurant?
We haven't tried Hinds but really liked Stone Terrace when the owener was there exec chef. If you've been there, please give me a thumbs up or thumbs down. I don't mind paying for a really good meal, but there are other good options we know more about.
We have only eaten there once back in January and it was a definite thumbs down
We won't return - for half the price we paid we could have had a fantastic meal at any number of the restaurants - we really wanted to love it but it just did not work for us on many, many different levels but I do know of a few people who do love it (or at least a few items on their menu) so don't judge it from our one experience as it might have been an off night.

John and I have only eaten there once, so maybe this is not the best input, but I can tell you that our meal including wine and tip was $300 for 2 people, and it was NOT worth it. The first course was very good, the main course was problematic, and the dessert course was awful. I will say that the service was good and they have a nice wine list (though the wine was served too warm). For that amount of $$ I can't justify going back.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
Yes our meal was in the $300 range as well and was soooooo not worth it - actually we went to (I believe) Shipwreck the next night (it was Les' birthday weekend after all
) and decided we could have eaten there 5 times for what it cost for one meal at Hinds and the food was so much better.
For good "upscale" food I would have to say Sweet Plantains in Coral Bay or ZoZo's in Cruz Bay would be my two although we just ate at Rhumblines for the first time in years and the steak there was about as great as you could have ever hoped for at a very reasonable cost (for an excellent steak on STJ anyway
)

Just did the flank steak at Tamarind for Mathyom's Asian Grill night and it was pretty yummy and only $19. That was my 3rd trip, posted a review after first visit if people want to check it out....I always have a really hard time not having the Cuban Mojo Pork at Rhumblines, have to second Pia's vote for Rhumblines as generally really good food at a more reasonable price. I hope they don't start doing price creep since they always seem really busy when i go there (though I tend to go on Sat & Sun when they have music so that may have an effect?)......another affordable food note is that Sun Dog is doing Sunday Brunch again already and will start doing dinner again next week.
