So I am looking at maps
So I am looking at maps
and I don't like maps but I'm bored and I'm REALLY anxious to get the heck on this island already!
If I'm in the Chocolate Hole area and I want to go to Coral Bay it looks like I can go over Gift Hill Rd to Centerline and then out. Is that pretty accurate?

The road is steep, yes,but not as bad as some other roads, from a St. John perspective. I don't think we used our four-wheel drive to navigate it. There were some pot holes, but you could drive around them.toni wrote:If I remember correctly, is that road fairly steep and full of big pot holes?
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

The road to Gift Hill is fine with low gear.
The Catherineburg road should be experienced by all
Our first trip to STJ, we stayed at Hakuna Matata and had to drive that road. Being the flatlanders that we are, it scared the crap out of me the first few times. I actually did not want to leave the villa (partially because it was so beautiful) for fear of that road. I think my knuckles were white for 2 weeks after that trip from grabbing the Oh, Sh.. bar.
We drove it again the next time we went back and were thankful that we didn't have to do it that trip.

p.s. If you take the Gift Hill Road don't forget to notice the Fork in the Road (assuming it is still there - last summer when we were there I think I remember it missing a prong).
