We're back!

Post by mindehankins »

We're back! Still cross-eyed from a 22 hour travel day, but trip report soon come, with some photos this time.
We had perfect weather, and a wonderful time, got to actually meet some people, and are planning our next trip already.

Welcome home! Looking forward to the report. I know you can't be blaming the Buffalo weather for any return delays  Glad to hear it was a great time!

Wow, that went fast!! Why does time on the island go twice as fast as time at home??? Looking forward to your trip report.

The day was just 22 hours long! I was up at 4. We took the 10:00 ferry to St. Thomas, but our flight to Atlanta wasn't until 4pm. No daylight savings time, so our flight from Atlanta to Buffalo was delayed by an hour. Home at 2am!
We haven't figured out a way to have a successful trip home day. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love them. We have to turn in the car on St. John by 10am, and then don't know what to do with luggage, etc, to enjoy the day. So the last two trips, we've taken the 10:00 ferry to St. Thomas, long lunch at Green House, then hours sitting at the airport waiting for our flight. Somehow, 4:00 always seems to be our departure time.

Welcome back - can't wait to read your TR and see the pictures.

You can drop your luggage off at Connections (~$3/bag) on your last day; and then you can enjoy shopping, eating, etc. in Cruz Bay. I believe they are open until ~1pm on a Saturday.

Welcome back Minde! So glad you had such a good time. Don't know how to shorten your trip. We drive to NYC to meet up with Mom and then fly out of JFK on AA. I wonder if you flew Jet Blue to JfK and connected through there???????? I wish Jet Blue would add STT on, it would make life easier for sure. Can't wait for your TR.

Minde - We also fly from Buff or Roch, but we use USAir. One stop in Charlotte (or Phil, I try to book w/Char) and then its off to STT. That return flight is at 3:00 I believe. We took the 11:00 ferry to Red Hook, and were plenty early. We had the same problem one year, but JJ's is not too far from the ferry dock. We had a nice breakfast/early lunch there. We have left our luggage with a cab driver in CA on ST before.

You were up at 4:00am??? That darn rooster! Was the sun up then?

Thanks, Madness! I'm thinking of renting on STT next time.
Yes, 4am is my normal rising time, and my body knew vacation was over with
