go all the way to the bottom of your news feed page and look for "edit options"
click that and it will show you your hidden peeps. you can return any of them to your news feed from there.

Yay! My news feed page looks so much better now. You guys rock! I'm sick of those hatchling thingies. Now I just have to clean up all the "requests" in the upper left hand of the page.

Good tip. I will do that!

Another thing to do is create Friend Lists so you can look at postings by groups. For instance, I have a list for Family, one for people who live on St. John, one for forumites, one for classmates. I can look at the news feed for one list at a time and it makes it easier for me to focus.

I was so happy when I figured out how to turn off all the game notifications! I was missing interesting posts from my friends because I was not scrolling back far enough through all of the farkle, bejewled blitz, mafia wars etc.

Now here is my "duh" facebook question. If I defriend someone, I know they don't get a notification, but does anything happen at all? Does my picture disappear from their friends list? Or does it stay there and then if they click to see my page, they just don't see anything?

I'm more curious than anything else. If I actually defriended the person I have in mind I am sure it would cause a family hassle.

I was defriended by someone around here and didn't realize it until I saw them on someone else's page and then thought to look for them in my friends list. they were gone. oh well... see ya ;)

Becky, they will disappear from your friends list entirely and you will disappear from theirs.

I just found out a few minutes ago that Kellee isn't on my friends list any more, but I know that's a mistake. Her FB account just got compromised and someone's sending out e-mails in her name saying she's in London and has been robbed and can you wire her money.

NOT TRUE!!

I'm happy I started the "We don't know how to use FB" thread.

We're on this board discussing another website, where certain people go to discuss this website.

I'm going over to FB right now to discuss what you just posted here. Don't try to follow me. I'll just come back over here and discuss what you said there.

Heres a funny notification I got from a friend who plays Bejewled WAY too much (ok ,I play but not COMPLETELY obsessed....)

"Claiborne just played 20 complete games of the NEW Bejeweled Blitz in a mere 30 minutes!
We here at PopCap would like to commend Claiborne for her dedication and focus. We'd also like to remind her of the importance of looking away from the screen now... and again and focusing her eyes on a distant object"

I don't mind saying that this whole thread has me a little scared to go down the facebook road. When you sign up can you just have one group that you interact with (like the forum folks) or is it the case that the minute you put your name out there a thousand people from your past can come thundering back whether you want them to or not?

Color me a coward.

Pete, I'm following you over there.

Agent99, Where have you been? Nice to see you. Use a fake name or everyone will find you. I suggest "Agent 99". That will work.

Hi Ruth, hope you are well! It's always the early winter when I start stalking USVI-on-line. This year winter is starting early. I don't know why I thought you had to use a real name.

Glad to "see" you Agent99! :) On Facebook you can also set your security settings really high so really no one can find you. You can request to be friends with people you like, but you don't have to be friends with everyone. You get to approve who you accept and who you don't.
